I would commute to university via train, three hours a day. It was my reading time. I seriously could not get beyond 6 pages of a book on a 1 1/2 hour journey because I would ALWAYS fall asleep. I fell asleep on to the woman sitting next to me one time, she didn't say anything, just sort of leaned away from me. Some days were better than others but I would always end up dozing off.

Libraries allow the book to come to life, the environment is just right. Plane journeys don't seem to have the same lullaby effect on me as train journeys.

I really want blond gf. It's gotten to the point where I've undergone something like Gatsby and now I know the image I have in my head is so much greater than anything possible, but I'm such a fool I don't care. I'm doomed to be alone and unhappy, but even still it gives me a weird sort of hope for the future. I still hold onto the idea of a blond gf.

I hate reading in a library honestly, perhaps it's because mine has mainly upright wooden chairs in small spaces but something about it feels wrong.

Sure, and I wouldn't date a girl with more than ~22% body fat, but "blonde" is an unnecessary prerequisite that'll shrink your viable partner list significantly.

I too love reading in the presence of reddit-tattooed LGBTQI+ pierced scum with vibrantly dyed hair, colored folk, and homeless people. I love when it smells like piss, people are listening to music loudly, and conversations are happening. Extra points for when you hear the homeless man going away at the computer.

US poorfag detected. You need to find a library nestled amongst gated upper-middle-class subdivisions to find the good libraries. Libraries in private universities are good too.

No kidding, last time I went to my uni library the first floor bathroom had leaked and they sectioned off 15 meters of carpet with industrial fans blowing to presumably dry it off after washing. I just wonder whose fucking idea it was to have that bathroom jut directly into a reading space rather than in a metal hallway nearby.

Ireland takes it to a new level in some of its older bars. They have small rooms where you can have a private conversations called snugs. A lot of Europe has outdoor seating areas for smoking so if the weather's not bad it's like sitting at a picnic table where you can get beer. Also there tends to be more booths and cosy cafe type bars, because a lot of places that serve alcohol you can bring kids to eat until certain hours. It changes over the continent but different bars open at different hours depending on whether you're going for a quiet drink or a night out.
