There's nothing wrong with reading them. I just wouldn't read them at my current age since I already read them back then. Wells and Golding were good to spend time with back when I was 12 years, but I probably wouldn't think of them the same way now. I don't really care too much for reading Nietzsche these days, since I already confronted and went past my existential crisis around the ages of 13-16, somewhat consciously, but also very strongly subconsciously inspired by his writings. Most of what he's got to say are things that I've taken up for granted ever since.
Lolita is an interesting read which you can only experience once for the first time. Afterwards, there is no surprise in the story, and everything appears exactly the same it did before.

Men are also not capable of real friendship. Zarathustra claims that women are incapable of friendship because often in women there is a a slave or a tyrant. The passive wife of a relationship, or the wrathful tyranny of a women defending her children. The love of a women is enlightened, it knows nothing of good or evil, you threaten a women's children and she will forget every lesson in the bible.

Do some women overcome this? Yes, but this describes most women perfectly fine.

As such women cannot, in their current form, be a friend, as they are slaves or tyrants. When Zarathustra claim women are like birds or cows, he is talking about how they are treated in societies as things rather than individuals. How can you be the friend of a man that only sees you as a walking womb? When even your mother pushes you to have children, rather than tell you to follow your ambition, and when again society pushes you in that direction including other women? How can you find a person capable of being a friend to you in such a society even if you climb above the rabble?

But of course men are also incapable of friendship, and not because of societal pressures but because of their own personal downfalls.

The Friend, is one of the most talked about and analyzed chapters of TSZ. It's perfectly easy to misread it and think Nietzsche is shitting on women. First of all, most people that read it won't know what Enlightened Love is, and won't pick up that men lack it. Also Nietzsche only criticize men's failure to be capable of friendship towards the end. While Nietzsche gives women an out for not being capable of friendship, men have no excuse for their failings, so men's incapability of friendship and the sorry thing they pass off as friendship is even more pathetic than the incapability of women.

Sometimes it's best not to help your friend for them to become stronger. This takes strength which most women lack (the mother smothers her child) but also most men in our age who are therefore hardly men.
