It's something else. When I read "devoured a/some book(s)", I immediately see a woman, well into her adulthood but insisting otherwise. She's a puppet of identity politics, and her identity is Ravenclaw. She describes herself as quirky. She's a liberal, but not a liberal because of any conscious thought on her part. She has a cat but doesn't appreciate the significance of a cat's companionship beyond it being cute and doing silly things. She probably dresses it up. She has a wordpress blog. She posts pictures of food on it. Food and her cat and a list of the latest books she's devoured. The only people that read it are thirsty guys who want to give her a good pounding because her thoughts are so vapid they match up perfectly with every other woman, identical to her, "devouring" the same books, and nobody who cares for intelligent thought has any business reading that. She has "live, laugh, love" somewhere on her living room wall, despite never doing any of those things, and she's too simpleminded to think of any better way to say she's read a shitton of Dean Koontz and James Patterson thrift store fodder than to say "devoured", just like every other clone of her, every other vapid blogging quirky nerd girl. I have no idea how so many of these women exist or how they're all exactly the same, but they are, and they terrify me.
