Is it worth reading? Is it truly experimental or is it just quirky formatting to mask a bad novel?

Yeah it's bad

It's a pretty interesting casual read (The Navidson Report) juxtaposed against some of the most offensively banal writing postmodernism has to offer (everything written by the Truant character)
Just skip everything with the typewriter font past the introduction. It's a good read if you do that. Not astounding, but very entertaining

It is bad writing but the author uses infinite gimmicks to alleviate the blame of his badness.

I liked it as a sweet love story with some horror elements. Nothing revolutionary or mind bending but it's a relaxing read if you know what you're getting into.

If you go into it expecting a creepy pasta you'll be pleased with it.

>making up a bunch of bullshit sources to put in a bullshit documentary created by an old blind man interpreted by a fucked up tattoo artist who has a lot of sex and then becomes homeless
Pretty fun as long as you don't take it too seriously desu

The worst place to ask about this book is /lit/, most of the nerds here are so terrified of looking like pseuds they use every meme in the book to prove that they really hate this book and they're right in doing so (not liking the book, mind you, I repeat, 4chan DOES NOT like this shit book)

Just read it, there isn't much like it around.

/x/ loves this shit book though, it's probably the only reason why people mention it here because they think they can come from their alium and spook board and talk about big boy books lmao

It’s worth checking out at least once. The Truant sections are not as good as Navidson’s, but people who insist the latter should stand alone missed the point. It’s like a creepypasta elevated into art.

Kind of what this anon said

Do you like mysteries and puzzles in your fiction? Youll like this to a degree. It has some dead weight in it, but its fun when its fun. The biggest let down is that the puzzles dont go as far as you might hope they would. Also once you notice them they are pretty easy to solve

I agree with >>11634428. Some parts of The Navidson Record are pretty gud and entertaining. Sometimes the gimmicky parts work and are rather cool but often they just suck. It's average, maybe a bit above average (I gave it a 3/5) but certainly not great.
