Science is currently based on authority. Religion (the true version) is based on observation and reason. There is no difference between true religion and true science, none of which need to be based on authority.

>Ad hominem meme
He's not saying that religion "wins" because of the fact that it contributes more to society. He's saying that religion will win because the vast majority of people seek the existential comfort that religion offers rather than the void of meaninglessness that science tends to portray. So literally the exact opposite of that quote is true, science has never won out over religion and it likely never will because, to the human psyche religion is just too valuable. And calling you a brainlet while it may be insulting is also an objective truth so take that as you will.

Here he is, the presumptious modern man who thinks he knows all of a history that would be linear according to his illegitimate belief. Otherwise, his teachers surely would have told him that there were more advanced civilizations in the past.

religion and christianity in particular has been one long process of saying
>we have the answers to everything
then scientific facts come along and they go
>well, actually what we meant was this and that, and you still haven't shown how THIS works, but we have the answers for it
then scientific facts come along and does show how it works and so on ad infinitum
just look at basic stuff like Evolution, Neuroscience, post-Einsteinian Physics, etc
christianity has been on its heels ever since they decided to stop burning the """"heretics"""" who could prove their dogmas to be the horseshit that they are

Tobit is some of most pleasurable reading in the Bible. Basically Tobias goes on an adventure with a dog and an angel to reclaim the family fortune. But Protestants don't want you to read it.

Which is why science and Christianity are both fundamentally a repackaging of the same truth-obsessed ideas. They have far more in common than either are willing to admit.

To clarify, scientists doing research are not the same as proselytising proponents of scientism, though there is undoubtedly some crossover.

t. Rabbi Hersehl Goldstein

>Notwithstanding the media hysteria over sex abuse in the Catholic Church, priests abuse at a rate far lower than that of other males. While even one case of abuse is too many, approximately only 4% of all active priests between 1950 and 2002 were even accused of abuse – a rate far lower than that of other males in the general population.

> "ased on the surveys and studies conducted by different denominations over the past 30 years, experts who study child abuse say they see little reason to conclude that sexual abuse is mostly a Catholic issue. 'We don't see the Catholic Church as a hotbed of this or a place that has a bigger problem than anyone else,' said Ernie Allen, president of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children …

>"Experts disagree on the rate of sexual abuse among the general American male population, but Allen says a conservative estimate is one in 10. Margaret Leland Smith, a researcher at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, says her review of the numbers indicates it’s closer to one in 5 …

>"Since the mid-1980s, insurance companies have offered sexual misconduct coverage as a rider on liability insurance, and their own studies indicate that Catholic churches are not higher risk than other congregations … It's been that way for decades."
