Is philosophy a spook, if so, what isn't a spook?

Nothing is immune from a phantasm, including yourself. Your own identity is an idea of the mind therefore it is a spook of a spook. Take the Stirner-Buddha pill and ascend past the ultimate spook of materialism

What is the condensed argument for why spooks are bad for you?

>> No.11587605

>>11587569
If a spook is bad for you, its bad for you. Recognise its origin and get rid of it. If a spook is good for you, then it's good for you. Recognise its origin and keep it. If you are honest with yourself and your thoughts and you come to the conclusion that for instance: belief in god is good for you and bolsters your essence. Then why not keep believing? If belief in god prevents you from realising your potential, then stop believing.

Isn't his egoist man free from all spooks?

A spook is a kind of spirit that limits its holder's freedom. Nevertheless, a christian God is a spook because he limits your freedom. The egoist man is free from all spooks, but he might have spirits.

No I don't get that impression. I just think that Stirner offers up a critique of philosophy and a way to live more genuinely and honestly. A lot of people on this board misinterpret him to advocate for some sort of hedonistic-psychopathy but miss important details in his writing such as his declaration of love for his fellow man. I think even trying to conceive of the true 'egoist-man' would probably annoy Stirner, such a thing is a spook.

Unless you think it isn't.

>a christian God is a spook because he limits your freedom
But a Christian is free at any point to reject God if he or she so wishes. So how is God [as a spook] a limit to freedom in any way?

Spooks are basically anything Stirner doesn't like or gets in the way of his own beliefs and values.

A God, from the perspective of a Christian, is a spook based on the above logic. There is a severe, freedom-limiting punishment in store if you were to deny him. Just because God is a spook does not mean he is a bad thing for you.

Oddly enough, humor is the only human construct that is not a spook.

>There is a severe, freedom-limiting punishment in store if you were to deny him

And the Stirnerian solution to this is to deny him?

>> No.11588075

No, not neccessarily, if you believe what God has to offer benefits you and the rules he applies benefit you in ways you can explain in earnest, then being Christian is suited to your ego.

What is a Spook? A miserable little pile of secrets.
