Law.
I plan on living like a poor person until I'm 35 so I can buy a comfy midwestern ranch, retire early, and sell my crops at a local farmer's market.

Academia is the end goal but I really have no idea if we’re speaking realistically. I’m also majoring in neuroscience so I can always fall back on that I guess...

English (creative writing) graduate here, I went to a coding camp and got a job as a webdev after college. Still awkward having to explain that I was an English major in interviews. Definitely lost a couple opportunities because of it.

I don't regret it though. I'm honestly considering applying for a fully-funded MFA program if I get some stuff published in larger magazines.

I’m a NEET. Before that I was Quality Assurance. Traveled overseas quite a bit.
NEETdom has been illuminating and even edifying, but I’m slowly descending into disconnect from daily life.

dont have any plans im just doing an english degree because it is something i enjoy, i started with stem but i got bored with it. ill take any job that comes afterwards if im lucky the finance chads in my family will get me a cozy office job since im close with my family if not i wouldnt mind working as a delivery boy or something i dont care too much about what i do as long as i am reading, liftin, working on my art, and watching anime (no bully plz). most careers seem really boring to me though and the army has been something ive been thinking about, but maybe im just romanticizing it.

Yep. Just have to prove you can do it. Usually you would have to write things to get in postgrad anyway. Try to write a philosophical essay of some kind, usually unis will be looking for at least one essay of yours. If you could get it published, it'd be great, but you'd have to know what to write and who would be an expert on it. You could always just submit it to some journal.

Also, do you know what the trends are in philosophy atm, specifically in your country or country you're going to apply in? You should know if you're even considering postgrad in philosophy, really...

Isn't academia a kinda poisonous career? You go to school for something so you teach the same thing to those people.

I am deciding on my major, and I want to major in history and philosophy but if my end goal is to be a professor, I will probably be teaching to people in a less prestigious university, so they can learn how to teach it in an even less prestigious university, and the end result are those people with 60k debt and a humanities degree. It seems toxic and immoral to me. If I go try to be a writer or if we lived in an age of prey commercialized education, I would do it.

Could be true if you’ve taken everything you’ve been taught 100 percent seriously. Teachers are people with opinions and therefore have their own take on everything. Everyone in my faculty are passionate about what they teach and don’t mindlessly parrot what others have told them
