I've been developing for a while a theory of Madoka as the search for selfless love, each girl representing one of the various types of love. It's easy and obvious to see how Mami represents self-love and therefore is obviously selfless. It's harder, even understanding what the show is getting at, to see the wishes that Kyouko makes for her family, Sayaka makes for her crush, etc, and believe that they are selfish at heart.
What Works of Love did that was so groundbreaking for me was really expound about how earthly finite love is necessarily a form of egoism. Kierkegaard was very consistent in all of his writings in scolding the Poet for idealizing love built on the flesh, and this was the work where he really got into the philosophy of it.
I guess reframe might be the wrong word, since it mostly clarified a point I was already moving towards, but regardless it was extremely helpful in developing my understanding of how even seemingly selfless loves like philia and storge are inferior to agape.
