Bought this a year ago hoping that he'd elucidate on his "transcendental empiricism" but I gotta say I should've listened when people told me how utterly obscure this man was. Still, I like his version of synthesis and his inclusion of math, science, art, film, literature, and virtually all sorts of media for his work.

Intentional gibberish to get attention

to defenders: What's it about? What does he prove?

>What does he prove?
deleuze takes a 'constructivist' approach to philosophy, so the whole notion of 'proving' is alien to him. proofs are for mathematicians. philosophy is for generating concepts, and taming tight, wild undergrad strange.

nice trips. it's garbage, like all deleuze; philosophy as art piece rather than an endeavor for truth.

I've been meaning to read this for a while but even the summaries and "simple" explanations give me a fucking headache. Can anyone explain in caveman language what he's actually on about with this thing?

> Grug no real, Grug made of relations independent of their terms and relations between relations (Grug call this pure difference)
> Grug's pure differences wobbly and constantly differ from one another and from themselves (they have a becoming)
> the becoming of Grug's pure differences is made of repetition with variation (Grug do something, Grug get better at it)
> this repetition with variation is the natural form of repetition, identical repetition (without variation) is the artificial one
> Grug's pure differences are real all the time, striving to become actual (from virtual)
> Grug's pure differences are universal singular (they might have similarities, but do not form under a concept, each drop of water is made of different relations) and have singular points (thresholds, like the boiling point of water)

brainlet detected. philosophy should increase knowledge. deleuze does not do that. he is not a philosopher.

>knowledge
Knowledge of what? The knowledge from philosophy is really just knowledge of what philosophers have said throughout history. If it has a relationship with reality than explain which of the thousands of philosophers is the ‘correct’ one. You’ll get a million different answers from a billion different people. A philosophy is just a concept you place upon reality. A philosophy is a way of looking at the world and changing it, either in your day to day life or in a grander way. In that respect Deleuze succeeds.

What? Understanding, maybe, but not knowledge, that's science.

There's no contradiction, art has its own truth. Even Nietzsche knew this despite opposing the two constantly.
