The biggest problem the west has had with moving on from post-industrial nihilism is not recognizing that nihilism is something to be overcome, but something to embrace. Interesting idea, but I don't think so. Maybe for some sure, but I've met and talked with fascists and proto-fascists who come from good homes with good dads.

I think an all-encompassing profile, at least for those browsing /lit/ and from my own limited experience, would be white upper-class young men who are actually somewhat smart, but lack direction. They may even know they're smarter than some of their peers, but aren't able to figure out why they cannot move forward or function outside of the "follower" role.

Instead of seeking answers from within (accountability, free thinking, self-evaluation and actualization) they become jaded and disillusioned and look to the outside world to answer for their shortcomings. Fascism gives them an answer, and from there it's an easy path to confirmation bias, safety in the crowd, and full-on ideology adoption.
