Was I supposed to feel so mad at the end of this?

>> No.11388530

Yes. Revolt against the end anon, and reclaim your life from nothingness.

i genuinely disliked the extent to which i related to the apathy of the main character at the time i read it. this book, in a sense, pushed me to play more of an active role in my life, rather than simply allowing all things to happen.

i guess the meaning i gathered from this piece was more so a bastardization of camus's intentions; that the universe, while wholly absurd, is up to you to tame on a very much personal level.

Read the Book of Disquiet, it's a much more in-depth piece of existential literature,

The best Camus essay hands down - best read in conjunction with his plays

If you identified with Merseault / agree with Sisyphus prepare to be btfo'd

He killed shot that guy and then continued to shoot until he had no possibility of surviving. That is an extremely malicious act which is underscored by his lack of 'normal' behaviour. I can understand why he was executed.
