That is not Evola, anon. Really, how the fuck he managed to pull off such a mangled interpretation of buddhism?

Far from a hack, Guenon was a much more serious and learned scholar than many, a real luminary. He’s only discounted because he let his own mystical views obviously become intertwined with his scholarship. Far from a hack, though, he was very widely read and had a great grasp of the traditions he spoke about, and rightly denounced the really hack Theosophy of his day. He didn’t have the passion and revolutionary nature of the genius but if you can’t see that he was a very serious, dedicated, and talented thinker, I doubt you’ve read a book of his fully and instead discounted him based on Wikipedia and summaries of his thought here.

Literally the most original and least hack author of our time. Too bad you didn't "get it". Honestly. I feel sorry for people who actually enjoy reading lit and don't like DFW

This, most of the arguments against him easily fall apart under scrutiny. In you are out-and-out materialist/atheist/convinced that only your religion is true and everything else is 100% false than it's fine to disagree with him on those grounds openly but most people on /lit/ don't come clean about where they disagree and instead prefer to rely on easily debunked narratives like he was just an orientalist or some other nonsense. I would challenge OP to explain exactly why Guenon is a hack in a way that actually uses specific examples instead of innuendo.

>He’s only discounted because he let his own mystical views obviously become intertwined with his scholarship

IMO the western academic sentiment that you can only write objectively about religion from an outside non-personal perspective without believing in it is retarded.

Hegel is a brainlet and so is anyone who shills him like Sadler. Anyone who repeats that meme exposes themselves as one too.

To anyone who hates Infinite Jest, I would recommend Oblivion. Personally, I think The Pale King is his best work. But it can be difficult to get into an unfinished novel

Definitely agree, I’m the guy who wrote that post and was trying to point that out. There’s an arrogant attitude of “I know your religion better because I don’t believe in it and can therefore study it better and more objectively from the outside.”
