Okay, so I just finished Mircea Eliade's The Sacred and The Profane and I'm smitten with the way he describes religious thinking as hierophanies and (ultimately) ontophanies and how our secular understanding of the world does away with the grand symbolism of the universe.

I want to read more in that direction. That is to say on how to overcome modernity and live more consciously. Does Heidegger touch on that? What about Kierkegaard? I'm not so much interested in Jung as I'm already familiar with him.

I Think you may want to look East in terms of conscious living and overcoming modernity.
