Child fucking aside; why aren't the Vatican archives made public? Hording knowledge in an attempt to keep the public ignorant of the past is abhorrent.

They are you just have to register like any regular library only difference is that its not open to people with only an undergraduate degree. Look into the Special Collections in your own state/national library and you will see the same process. Rare and fragile documents cant be treated like mass market paperbacks

> Hording knowledge in an attempt to keep the public ignorant of the past is abhorrent.
Barley any of the documents from the past are restricted though, its all stuff which is post 1939 but even that is treated like cabinet documents in that they are released and made open after a set amount of time.

>Why are intellectuals not in a constant uproar over this issue?
Because they have access to the documents they desire and seek.

Admit it you didnt you actually give this any real research and just assumed that just because it didnt work like a local library it must be some sinister conspiracy.

That only works with rigidly established social castes. When everyone is "equal" under the law, the weak group together and prey on the strong and individual. Therefore education is a necessity for the animals so they don't rape and pillage the society that greater men built before them and they simply inhabit.

Also "mass education" implies they are being taught factual premises; in reality the curriculum is molded by liberal politics (post cold war) or conservative politics (pre cold war).

Every time the Library of Alexander was burnt or raided it was by great leaders of other nations, surely they would have taken many of the important books for their own archives? The last leader to take the library was Caesar, so wouldn't it be likely the Vatican has books from the Library of Alexander?

Perhaps they won't release books because they talk about histories of the ancient world we don't know about, such as the fact Dynastic Egyptians inherited the Sphinx and the pyramids and just maintained them, not created them, and the fact human civilisation is much older than we know.

Just kidding, it's just funny to see it like that. I don't even know I'm his direct descendant though I bear his name.
But if you like the painting I can tell you the story. It is his only known work, and it represents the famous romantic painter Géricault, who died painfuly bedridden. Years before Géricault had painted him in his chef d'œuvre Le Radeau de la Méduse.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Raft_of_the_Medusa
Only 3 survived the incident out of ~150, Géricault found those 3 men and asked them to help for the painting, going as far as asking to pose as to incorporate them in it. You can see Correard in the middle, pointing his arm toward the horizon.

I like to imagine they remained friends after this collaboration throughout the years, and that my "ancestor" visited him in his last moments, capturing the loss of his friend in this painting. I have no discernable talent for painting or engineering, however.

Last fun fact for the day, Gericault's painting will be gone in the next 20 years. Back then they used bitumen in the paint to solidify it, and it has begun some years ago to turn black. I've seen in myself at the Louvre, it's very apparent on the darkest areas like around the mast. Soon the entire painting will turn black.

Who cares, most of the people here wouldn't be able to read anything in the archives till some robot translated something. I bet they got some sort of book that would drive the reader insane with the dark knowledge they would gain from reading it.

The Catholic Church is still very much a magical organisation (or if that offends your sensibilities, "psychological".)

They have a very strong interest in keeping certain knowledge to themselves - now, I don't believe this knowledge is truly insidious, just that if released to the public it could provide compelling reasons to stop offering consciousness energy to them, such as >>11281699 points out.

Besides, as a magical organisation, they need to maintain an aura of secrecy and mystery, or else the awe they excerpt over unenlightened people will lessen.

There's no such thing as post-grad. They perform prefrontal lobotomies and implant control chips during "dissertation." We can hardly be expected to go through that just to read a fucking book.

It's not nearly that simple. Region makes a big difference. Places in the south are still trying to teach creationism and shit.

>Dynastic Egyptians inherited the Sphinx and the pyramids and just maintained them, not created them, and the fact human civilisation is much older than we know.

High culture started with Sumerians and the people of the Indus Valley as far as one knows. People can identify the age of an object using e.g. radio-carbon methods, why do you think age determination it's based on scripture only?

Not nearly as much as it used to. It's becoming obsolete, in the west, and right now I think all it really holds back is the people who follow it. Definitely fuck conservatives, however.

Teachers are more likely to be paedophiles than priests, maybe the issue is paedophiles gaining access to jobs around kids, and not specifically priests? Unless you're talking about Muslim child brides.

But the point still stands, everything Religion is against is promoted and encouraged in the West, so how is it holding them back?
