Congratulations! You have once again succeeded in posting a thinly-veiled 'literature' thread with the intention to gossip like a schoolgirl!

This sort of proves Hume right in that people tend to reason from their passions rather than reason leading to a particular conviction.

It certainly is. I am fully aware that much of what I believe has its origins in my own pathologies, but I have yet to find any other way to orient myself in the world. I remember I once read a quote that said "Never trust a man that hates his time" and it applies to me quite a lot, and I think it does to many on this board, considering the amount of threads about conservatism. No matter how well reasoned my beliefs are, at the core of them is a hatred of everyone and everything, especially myself.

I wouldn't say most people here turn to conservatism out of resentment and hatred, or to left wing politics for the same reason.

You might veer towards the right-wing out of a resentment towards lefty parents, or maybe you were touched by some rudyard kipling novels. Similarly you might become a communist out of outrage against your christian fundamentalist parents, or maybe the real reason was the empathy you felt for working class people in your neighborhood. It can also be a mixture of both of these things in either example.

>Desire is the predicate for all action
haha, yeah like no wrong step has ever placed you on the right footing. Desire is an abstraction that is never fully realised internally or externally. Desire has no perfect correlation to reality and at best leads people to stumble towards an approximation of what is believed to be the desired object.

also, this thread is shit.

While all of that is true it has to do with the point being made.

>Foucault = Derrida

>hierarchy=necessary
hierarchy is simply inevitable, it naturally arises from differences between individuals. You find hierarchies even in places like communes, and they tend to be even less fair than those in modern societies, mostly because they're unformal hierarchies so they can't even theoretically be accountable.
