Spanish frends, let's make a chart like this but for Spain. I'll start with some basics:

Middle Ages:
>El Poema de mio Cid
>La Celestina
>El conde Lucanor
>Milagros de Nuestra Señora

Renaissance:
>Coplas de Marique
>Noche oscura del alma
>Las moradas
>Lazarillo de Tormes
>Garcilaso de Vega
>Ejercicios espirituales de Loyola
>Fray Luis de León

SIGLO DE ORO:
>Cervantes
>Góngora
>Quevedo
>Suárez
>Baltasar Gracián
>Tirso de Molina
>Lope de Vega
>Ercilla
>Calderón de la Barca

ROMANTICISM:
>Espronceda
>Don Juan Tenorio
>Don Álvaro, o la fuerza del sino

REALISM:
>La regenta
>Fortunata y Jacinta
>Pepita Jimenez

GENERATION OF 98
>Abel Sanchez
>San Manuel Bueno, Mártir
>Antonio Machado

GENERATION OF 1914:
>La rebelión de las masas
>España invertebrada

GENERATION OF 27:
>La casa de Bernarda Alba
>Romancero Gitano

POST WAR:
>La familia de Pascual Duarte
>La colmena

These are the most important I can think of, but please add more and let's make this chart

I think Niebla and El árbol de la ciencia are a must for 98
Also, this list needs sum Machado and Juan Ramón Jimenez
>>11250676
>La casa de Bernarda Alba
>Romancero Gitano
Not enough rather

>> No.11250747

>>11250356
aaaaah, my chart <3

>> No.11250773

>>11250739
Just realised you already mentioned Machado, woops. Don't really think of him as a member of that generation but whatever
Also, for Post War stuff:
Nada, Cinco horas con Mario, La sombra del ciprés es alargada, Las Ratas, Tiempo de silencio. Some poetry, like Ángel fieramente humano and Pido la paz y la Palabra would be nice
If you wanna include contemporary novelists, I really like Eduardo Mendoza

>> No.11250825

>>11250739
what else would u put for lorca? poeta en nueva york? yerma? bodas de sangre?

>> No.11250859

>>11250825
Those three are really good of course. I feel like El Público and Así que pasen cinco años are less talked about than the big three but are just as good. I don't think you need more poetry than Poeta en Nueva York and Romancero Gitano though.
Oh and speaking of theatre, you gotta put Luces de Bohemia and some Buero Vallejo in there at the very least

He's one of the most beloved spanish writers, his prose is very clean and simple

>> No.11253146

>>11250356
>Middle Ages:
I would include El Cantar de Fernán Gonzalez and El Libro del Buen amor

The inner castle should be there. Inclusing some scholastics wouldn't be bad either.
>ROMANTICISM
Bequer should be given some consideration
>GENERATION OF 98
Pio Baroja and Unamuno should be there
>GENERATION OF 1914:
Ortegismo is cancer. Include some Juan Ramón Jimenez
>POST WAR:
Include Bueno,Delibes and Zubiri.
