Literature taught me to be sympathetic to not only man but fellow creatures because all living things are connected by a common ancestor, consciousness is not a binary switch but occurs in different levels, and eventually time will erode us all away over the span of billions of years and our lifespans are not even visible flashes of light, and yet because we are bound so strictly to our hormones and desires we resent others around us and become so short-sighted that we wish others deliberate harm, pain, and death.
