Is reading same book over and over again preferable to having diverse taste? My father is like this, he spend youth reading two three books from boredom, and now he quote whole Pan Tadeusz passages from memory (national epic poem here). I dont know any poems from memory, as i read few books a month like an autist i am. My father is dumb as bricks and fat tho (he had problem with reading Wuthering Height for example and he lost this fucking book in hospital) but i respect him for this one skill

Memorizing poetry really isn't that hard. You don't have to force yourself. Just read it as much as you want, go slowly, explore it, meditate on it, and do research, and naturally you'll keep some lines in your heart.
