I'm searching for a good overview of the Arthurian legends, i'm especially interested in the grail legend. Can someone recommend me some books?

I am reading Le Morte D'Arthur atm, it's one of the earliest collections of Arthurian tales.
There are also the old-french Grail romances.

My nigga, the following are all Grail related, with my comments on each:
- Perceval, le Conte du Graal; Chrétien de Troyes. Unfinished, but the first real appearance of the Grail as a major plot point
- "Joseph d'Arimathe" and "Merlin"; Robert de Boron. Gives the backstory of the Grail as we know it
- The whole of the Vulgate Cycle; Various authors (includes the previous recommendation). This is THE body of works that solidified the Grail in Arthurian tradition. It introduces Galahad, rather than Percival, as the attainer of the Grail. You can find this scattered around the web on various academic sites, or for $400 from Boydell & Brewer.
- Le Morte D'Arthur; Sir Thomas Malory. The single-most directly influential Arthurian work in all of history, probably. You know something about King Arthur? Odds are it originated here. Melding of the British and French (i.e. Grail) traditions.
- The Once and Future King (specifically "The Ill-Made Knight"); T.H. White. Arguably the most radical reimagining of the Arthurian mythos. Lots of anti-fascist facets, as well as some psychologically disturbing ones. Ill-Made Knight specifically (as one of my friends wrote a paper on) sees Lancelot as an insertion of White's many problems - anger, latent homosexuality, sadomasochism - into a single character and wrestled with. Interesting when you consider it in light of the rest of the Grail works and what was going on in the world at that time.

These are just the big ones, and you can pick and choose from among them. Definitely go for Morte and Ill-Made Knight, though.

Are you reading it in the original? If so, how difficult is it? I'm thinking of picking it up.
