I'm finding it increasingly difficult to not become left wing in the Tony Blair, Hillary Clinton style. In fact, Woodrow Wilson's Racist Globalism ideology seems the ideal

The person who owns the machine assumes of all the risk, if the machine ceases to be productive and his firm fails, his reputation and creditworthiness are damaged, while his employees can find other work and are not going to be held responsible for the company's collapse.

If he was only a manager the cartoonist would have a slightly better argument, but even then, if you've ever worked for a badly managed company you will understand why good managers are important and well compensated.

Depends on what you mean by "very little" i guess yes in the sense of exponential economic growth it would not be possible without managers and bureaucrats but a craftsman can manage his own work and produce quality.

>a craftsman
Not the guy you replied to but I agree that a craftsman can manage himself exceedingly well because the conscientiousness required to learn a trade tends to be accompanied with decent practical business instincts. However people with the skills and work ethic to be craftsmen make up only a small portion of the working class. In the past these perpetually unskilled people were serfs, today they are assembly line workers, fast food employees, etc.

That depends on the complexity of what is being produced and how you define a producer.

If you are making furniture, probably, if you are making airplanes or cars, no. Once the complexity reaches a certain level the people responsible for building and designing the products don't have the mental bandwidth to manage their financing, supply chains, etc.

Fair point, but that growth is arguably inevitable at this point. The developing world has an incredibly high birth rate and they almost all want western, developed living standards ASAP.

Only in a handful of countries is the growth "artificial" via planned obsolescence, marketing, etc. and to view capitalism as a means to build and supply things people don't really want or need just to make money is an extremely western notion. In the rest of the world it is supplying things people desperately want and in the case of things like food and healthcare, things they need as well.

That is good to point out, and far be it from me to deny anyone the right to a dignified existence, but it might be a good idea for us to also export birth control to these places as well.

I think what you're looking for is probably Vince Cable but honestly the best idea now is to get in on the tories and just try to push them in a direction that doesn't involve Jacob Rees Mogg.
