Basically it's about Lawrence calling out Russell for being a dick in his rhetoric in favor of pacifism and no-nukes.

Lawrence is in the wrong, by the way. Cue shitposting in response because /lit/ has long since settled on being anti-Russell by default.

Russell wrote an article about how war is bad and will destroy European civilization. Lawrence thought he was basically just whelming his hypocritical, violent hatred of violence beneath a veneer of pacifism.

His work in proof theory and set theory laid the groundwork for ZFC, which is (arguably) the biggest thing to happen in math since calculus. The Principia is clumsy by modern standards, but you can compare it to something like Babbage's analytical engine — even though the project never came to fruition, its a massive achievement and an important case study.

>>11086420
I have nothing but respect for G, but his work has had much less impact on the formal sciences than Russel. The collective response by mathematicians was to shrug and say, "Well, we can't prove every true statement, but we can prove all the ones that matter."

This. Socionics is pure autism. ENTPs do not use Fi and thats FINAL

>> No.11089682

>>11089610
Socionics isn't a great system, I agree, but they have some useful insights. Things are rarely black and white, my friend.

All people have all eight functions. You need to do more research into Jung's theories. Ask yourself, first, how the psyche MUST be orchestrated for Jung's theories to be sound. Once you realize the intrinsic links between functions, you'll realize that all people MUST have eight. From there just keep thinking and researching. Everything will open up to you.

>>11087917
No. An ENFP has Fi second, but their blind spot is Ti. Once you understand that all people have all eight functions and how these functions interact with one another the system will become far more useful. If you think like this guy>>11089610 you'll never get any real use out of MBTI, and you'll stay ignorant of Jung's genius forever.

ENTPs and ESTPs both have blind Fi. It would take me a long time to explain why the seventh function is blind and how it relates to the other functions in everyday life, so I'll just leave you to do the research and contemplation on your own. Just know that blind functions and their relationship to the unrepresented functions are extremely important for understanding any type and typing people.

You mean despite the fact that Russell not only defended a rationalist basis for knowledge, but also defended the existence of abstract entities à la universals? You people hate analytics because you think they take the wonder and mystery out of philosophy and the world, right? But Russell was a defender of those notions that have existed since Plato, so what are you complaining about?

Oh, I forgot that /lit/ is a board for people who don't actually bother to read, so why would you know something as important as Russell's actual philosophy when you try to engage in a discussion with him?
