Electronic conversion of academy sucks the soul right from study, removes human element as much as possible. Quality of handwriting could be likened to quality of character, and there is no quality of character within the words of a text file because they are all uniformly, maddeningly the same. The next generation of academics will be a servile and transhuman race disconnected from both physical reality and spiritual dimension

>have to hold my hand in a strange position while writing in order for it to be legible at all
>looks like a child's handwriting
>tried to self teach cursive but that only works if you are right handed
>can't write fast or neat at all, when writing own name it looks like a fucking handicap wrote it

cursive is being dropped because it is a technology developed for an old technology (goose quills, fountain pens) which required the pen point to stay on the paper for greatest efficiency

ball-point pens, computers made cursive obsolete

no wait, it's a conspiracy to make people dumber

>between then and now have only had to use it once for a professor in college who insisted that test essays be in cursive
>haven't used it at all in the 10 years since

>> No.10954612

Proper cursive can be very beautiful if produced by a skilled scribe, but being written by most people it's ugly as sin. It'd be better off as an art of calligraphy than a part of a school program. Though I think school must require a great amount of handwriting from students to accustom them with handwriting.

I live in Gypsylandia, Eastern Europe and the only times I use cursive these days (these past ten years actually) is post office forms, because the system is retarded (I write the address etc. on paper and the lady at the counter takes the paper and types everything on her computer). My kids write better than me because they have handwritten homework every day.

Imagine not knowing the the joy of writing in cursive. I don't give a fuck if it's not "useful", we shouldn't base the education system around optimizing your future value as a capitalist drone.

>get told daily in 2nd grade that cursive will be used in middle/highschool for everything
>have used it a total of zero times during either of them
What's the point of learning it in the first place?
