I've had a love hate relationship with continental and French philosophers but I have to admit my top 3 are probably French. Despite their love of obfuscation and eltitism the French have a wonderful talent for setting off bombs in academia, which reflects their national talent for strikes, rioting and revolution. Foucault, Lyotard, and Baudrillard all come to mind as iconoclasts who didn't give af about what their contemporaries thought. For that I love them. 19th century and early 20th century French philosophy bugs me a lot though. Sartre in particular.

I am convinced The French are actually the superior race.

I mean, if you look at their academic accomplishments it is profound. They have had hands-down, even to this day, the best economists.

Rousseau was honestly the best political philosopher, only after Machiavelli.

The Germans/British/whatever have nothing on them.

French seem like they're the farthest down the line in terms of metaphysical progress, always a few decades ahead with things like the revolution and po-mo. Basically down to them or Russia to save us now. France by breaking through modernism toward the future, or Russia by avoiding modernism by way of their backwardness and current state between antiquity and modernism and breaking off towards something different.

I'm sure you could pose it in a way that appears trivial but if you take a second to consider the implications of what would happen if we chose to subscribe to an ethical framework without considering the ontology behind it you can surely see that it is not trivial at all

This is a trivial matter, evolution has ensured that we have a well prepared sense of those who surround us already, which means we can simply go with our feelings. You will probably tell me that feelings will change from person to person, so that's not an answer, but that will merely create the natural evolutionary tug of war that shapes and will shape everything, and with which you don't really need to concern yourself with, because that'd be like concerning yourself with whether or not our future is predetermined.
