My books finally arrived. I immediately started the first book and I'm slowly developing an understanding on how the Fabled Lands operate. I missed a clue and almost died to a lake dragon after I was maybe an hour into my first play-thru (read-thru?). I got lucky on a die roll where I had a 1/6 chance to survive.

One thing about these books is that you have to fight the urge to cheat or reroll to get more favorable outcomes. Maybe once or twice I rerolled because one of my dice flew off the table, and conveniently would of been a bad roll.

Anyway, I completed a quest to find the "Book of the Seven Sages", and returned it to a priest who gave me a status upgrade. I'm playing as a Troubadour, which in hindsight was a poor choice for the early game. There are a lot of scouting ability rolls, and the Troubadour has the worst scouting ability in the game. Maybe I should journey to a big city were I can take advantage of my high charisma stat.

The grinding isn't really bad. Money is a problem but I was able to find 500 shards in a cave close to the first town--enough to buy some supplies, at least. I have enough to buy a townhouse but I'm unsure how cost effective that is, since you can always rest at an inn for 1 shard a night to heal up your hit points.

I've only posted there once a long time ago because I needed help with some niche thing that there was a subreddit for, I can't even remember what it was. Tbqhwyf Sometimes there are some really specific subreddits that have good information on niche things. But yeah, other than that, it's trash for actually visiting to discuss things or for enjoyment.

I post on reddit and have a decent amount of Karma.

The potential for high level discussion is there... plus they have a messenger function. It's always nice to discuss literature/mathematics/whatever through the messenger.

Like Goodreads. I go to Goodreads before Reddit though. I always post in the 'what are you reading this week'. And although I post ridiculous books I know they've never read, they upvote my posts almost all the times. Sometimes they'll ask questions about the ridiculously hard books I'm reading, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability, but I know deep down inside they are looking at my comment in perplexity and awe, scratching their heads at what the fuck I've just said.

It's kind of amusing toying around with them. I definitely know how they'll react given any sort of stimuli. I like trolling them. It's a pastime.

Yes. It is a short walk from anti-elitism to excusing practically everything else. The danger of anti-elitism is not that, god forbid, someone will read a fantasy book about muscle dudes and woman-warriors with giant knockers, from time to time.
