you can get literally thousands and thousands of books on your ipad for free. personally i prefer psychical books but imagine thinking that is somehow a negative.

The true patrician path is both: you buy physical copies of books that you want to closely study/annotate or collect; otherwise you search google for PDFs and use your iPad to read digital versions of books that you want to read but can't bring yourself to purchase for whatever reason.

literally every book publshed before the 1950's (i think) is available, usually translated, immediately at your fingertips. It's the truly patrician way since you don't waste time physically going out to the bookshop and dragging that heavy tome back, instead you spend your time reading comfortably. no torn pages, creases, or stains either.

When I embarked on my /lit journey I used to think like you, kid, then I realized that reading paper books to score social points is reading for the wrong reasons.

If you acquire enjoyment or great knowledge from a book why does it matter if it's evident to others or not?

i buy books because i couldn't think of anything worse than wanting to read a book and forgetting my fucking ipad isn't charged.
also, they're cool decorations. i like the idea of transforming my home, or my room into microcosm of my mind. Filled with my thoughts, ideas, and things i enjoy and appreciate..
