>How's the book coming along, /lit/?
I've wrote around 70 pages, and will likely attempt to finish it at the end of the year. However, I'm relatively unsure as to the quality of it, as the writing looks like schizophrenia personified

Poorly, I've got maybe 50 different scene and three hundred thousand words but absolutely no story.

360 pages of pure unedited dribble written entirely without any experience writing a book where each character takes an element from my struggles in life and deals with it over the course of the story. I have no idea what I’m doing, if I don’t write it then depression comes leaping back into my life.

It’s pretty autistic, but, not at all is it YA, I don’t read many of those. It’s about a group of people that search for a mythical “ark” admist a shannara-like world where different periods of time led kingdoms exist after an unspecific apocalypse occurred that was so drastic it spawned different fantasy races, made the average IQ level drop, and plunged the world population by billions.

Roughly, I'd say about 2 hours a night after work. Depends on weather it's plot or not. Which in my case half of it was. About 1k or so will be binned and/or replaced.
Sometime I have a problem where I write shit that doesn't relate to the character, so it gets chopped pretty quick.

I dont understand how people write 200 pages novels. Maybe I'm too stupid or too autistic. The "novel" I'm currently writing should come out to only 10k words. I know the start, the end, and how to get there. I don't think I rush, I think that the ideas I have are simply not suited to a novel's length

Not good. I'm putting my main story on hold for a short story I can put on Amazon in order to test the waters.

I just have so many high level ideas that I'm unable to translate into novels, and even then I don't write a whole ton. Most of my chapters end up being about 1000 words, and that's if I push myself. Sometimes they're longer, but that's been more rare as time goes on...

It's a mystery/thriller novel. Finished it the other week. Just waiting for it to get edited now, then I can put it up on Amazon (not even going to bother going the traditional route). Also, tonight I started writing my next book, a dark fantasy. Done about 1200 words so far. Still in the prologue. Good luck to everyone out there.

Mine is about a action-drama about an arsonist who goes back in time to give his past-self a better life before he becomes him and destroys the future, and they eventually develop a father-son relationship. It’s my first book and is currently 60k from beginning to end (I predict it’ll barely be 70k words by the final draft). I’m currently ironing out the plot with some notes and will implement them when I feel like I can make the gut punch emotional moments not sound/feel like shite
