Schopenhauer had the same schedule for literally 30 years.

He also pretty much lived the ideal life, I don't know what the fuck his problem was.

7:00 am - woke up, drank coffee, began writing
12:00 pm - stopped writing, played the flute
12:30 pm - went to restaurant for lunch
1:00 pm - read
4:00 pm - walked for two hours
6:00 pm - read the newspaper
6:30 pm - went to theatre or concert
8:30 pm - eats dinner at restaurant

Here's mine

8 AM: wake up feeling like shit, swallow some kind of stimulant pill (Adderall or Modafinil) and drink some codeine

8:30 AM: now that I can actually get up, I walk over to my computer and begin browsing the internet, occasionally taking notes of anything interesting

2 PM: time to start drinking my first bottle of wine

4 PM: walk to the city to find somewhere to drink my second bottle of wine

6 PM: wonder the streets like a Flaneur, observing society, taking more notes if I stumble across something worthwhile

8 PM: back at home, I swallow a sleeping (Xanax or Valium) and read about depression and suicide until I pass out.

>> No.10700370

heres mine.

>6 wake up with the sun & birds
>look at plants or do some minor tasks
>7 read
>10 do some light excercise
>eat fruit while listening a lecture
>11.30 internet or write/draw
>sometimes go out for a walk or for groceries
>13 read
>16 eat and listen to lecture
>17.30 internet or write
>sometimes a movie
>20 sleep

every now and then i stay up all night, go to bed 7-10 and continue normally. it feels good and balances the thing when it goes off rails for some reason.
and about writing, it sprouted by itself after years of reading, and it is done randomly... im not at a state where you can schedule it or do it whenever. at least for it to be helpful. internet discussion helps as a stimulation.

Having a routine has always deadened life, in my experience. I begin to get the overwhelming sense that "this is all there is," the sense that my freedom is restricted. And for what? For some hope that I will "improve" my life?
Jordan Memerson claims that you just have to "schedule the day you want to have" to fix this problem. But what you "want," or what you think you'll want in the future, will change at any given moment. It is impossible to predict what kind of day you will want. You may think you'll want to do this thing at this hour in the future, but when that hour comes, you may not want to do it anymore. Seneca warned against this:
"Can there be anything sillier than the view of those people who boast of their foresight? They are too busily preoccupied with efforts to live better; they plan out their lives at the expense of life itself."
Spending your time predicting the future is absurd when you could be using that time to actually live life.

in fact i have a job "consulting" for the energy industry. my bosses live in houston and singapore, i live in california, and the clients are all over the world. no one really knows what i'm doing at any specific time and there are enormous gaps of time when we are waiting on stuff from clients etc. it's absolutely outrageous, but i just try to take advantage; i have many other friends in management consulting who do literally work 60-70 hr weeks, it all just depends on the situation and i landed the best one possible. just had my annual review and was told my performance is very strong—people are thrilled with how willing i am to volunteer for work and be a team player, no joke. my parents think i should write a novel about how ridiculous it all is. additionally, other management consultants from mckinsey, etc. are always getting our CEO to re-organize management and lay people off, so i have a new boss every 6 months who takes 3-4 months to catch up

everyone in the corporate world is a pencil pusher--some people just have to *turn up* to work for 70 hours a week, but whether you're in an office, or at home (like yourself) at most, you do about 10 hours of real work. you were just one of the lucky ones who got to work from home, but there's no surprise in any of this: most people spend the majority of their working hours just idling.

wake up
piss, drink tea, water
wash up at least a little
put on unusual but not extravagant clothing
take a short walk to a 24 hour minimarket nearby
buy energetic drink or two, a liter of diet coke or pepsi, and some food - dough pockets with egg and onion or mash potatoes inside, and/or instant noodles, and/or beans in a can, and/or a package microwaveable sort of memetic mini-hotpockets, sometimes a similar product
go back home, eat food, drink drinks
maybe wash up myself thoroughly, maybe shave my face, or my pubes, or my belly
maybe take a bath, during which i can shave myself even more thoroughly
maybe clean up around a bit, but dont take garbage out, just put it into plastic bags
masturbate whenever i please however many times i want during the day also
occupy myself with whatever
maybe take a shit followed by washing my ass afterwards
sleep whenever
go take a piss every now and then, now i have to piss into toilet, not into a sink, because people have noticed sink smells of piss, or maybe they saw me pissing into it
wake up whenever

6:00-8:30 PM: Write or prepare for writing. Browse lit for ~20 minutes. Dinner is cooking while this happens, almost invariably beef stew with a side of spinach and a glass of milk.
8:35-9:30 or so PM: Play video games. My favorite genres are STGs, run and gun, and fighting.
9:45-11:00PM: prepare for bed, read by candlelight since I legitimately cannot sleep immediately after bright TV light. Pray, usually shower but sometimes wait until morning.

I only work during the summer while I am not at university, 12 hours a day so I don't have to have a job while I am studying. Summer sucks dick though. I keep this routine really tightly, only occasionally break it to meet friends etc.

how much do you produce that contributes to society?
are you happy most of the time in that you are proud of what you do?
Do you have a sense of meaning in your life that you really believe?
The answers to these questions will lead you to a conclusion about what you think here.
The things you act out every day are the most important things and dismissing this as boring is something you do at your own peril. It doesn't matter what you think is 'fun'. Your enjoyment has nothing to do with it.

10710038

My current routine is very stressful, but it's an easy stress to overcome simply because of how productive I find myself being.

I don't eat a lot, once a day on most days, twice rarely, and many days not at all. But I get it when I can find the time. Cigarettes kill most of that. But when I do eat, I eat a lot. I'm not exactly starving.

What this doesn't include is that I do poetry slams, and stand up comedy as well on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Also on Thursdays, I leave immediately after to host my own standup comedy show at a different bar down the street.

On average, I am able to create submit around 4-5 stories/poems/articles every week to various publishers who are looking for work along the lines of mine.

I have written 2 books and outlined 2 others along with 2-3 different screenplays as well, as far as major time-consuming projects go.

I can create an average of 5-6 poems a week, and 1 stand up routine a week, but it takes about 4-5 months of work to get the stand-up routine good enough to where I'll create another one.

When I have accumulated enough PTO at work, I'll take a week off, usually to create any larger projects like my novels. Those days look like the one on the right.

I've been following this routine for the last 2 1/2 years so I've gotten pretty used to it by now, but I will say this: It's a lonely routine. I do this, EVERY vacation. I don't go to Cancun, or a city, or travel. I spend a week in my chair. On my normal days, I work from the second I stop my normal job, to the second I can't hold my head up, only getting social and human interaction on my Thursday and Friday evenings when I am performing.

As for women, there's plenty, but no solid relationships. I usually fit them into my sleeping time and have them arrive and leave when my working time ends/begins.

How could he go to the restaurant, lunch, and be back home to read a book just half an hour later?

Either he lived very near the restaurant, or else he spent five minutes eating at most.

He said routines of writers. Not famous writers. Granted, most of these routines don't involve any writing. But knowing other writers routines could be good, especially for the people who lack that structure, and could really use it to be more productive and improve their craft.

So my current publishing credit was on an online magazine called "Anotherealm" which had a server crash and lost a lot of stories, one of them being mine. Thanks 21st century. I do have a website where I post poems, art, and stories I'm working on along with previews of the novels I'm writing, but as I submit work to other publishers, I'll take them down.

The screenplays aren't up there yet. One was a pilot episode of a TV show about a therapist who can see into the future of unborn children, and the other is a Noir short film about 2 guys arguing in an alleyway.

For work, I am the store manager of a local Verizon indirect agent, which is good because I get a lot of down time, especially this time of year. So I keep my manuscript in my desk so I can edit it at work and hit the ground running as soon as I get home.

Cool man, that's awesome. I'm in a position now at work where I'm quite relied upon (javascript dev) so I don't have time for anything at work these days. But the pay is good at least. I still have yet to get shit published, and most of the feedback I've gotten on the chans has been... negative to say the least lol. But fuck it, I'll keep trucking.

Don't trust it. It's 4chan. Just keep going. Show real people, who's opinions you value and who you trust can tell you the truth. That's the best feedback. And outside of work, just keep doing it. Every waking moment I'm not performing, I'm writing. Shitty part is it takes about 3-4 days to finish a movie, (since I only watch them when I go to bed) and 2-3 months to finish a videogame (since I only play them before I go to bed, in between movies)

In some ways I think 4chan feedback is great, since the anonymity lets people really tell you what they think. But yeah, I need to show my friends some stuff. I posted this: >>10712547
But I don't even know if it's worth getting feedback on a summary, because it's not the real thing.

I quit videogames entirely, I just couldn't find the time. And I'd like to write at night as well, but I find that it makes me anxious sometimes. Watching movies just calms me down. And it's a good excuse to study film.

Where do you do standup? I was thinking of signing up for some open mic stuff, just to get out of my comfort zone. I actually told the girl that from my story and she laughed and told me I wasn't funny. Maybe it's a sign lol

You won't know until you do it.

I perform at an open Mic on Wednesdays, and host my own open Mic on Thursdays. Hosting is probably my favorite thing to do, since I have to write more. Often on the spot. It really challenges the wit. But it's exhausting.

Yeah, fair enough. It's something I'm gonna do before I die, that I know. It scares me, and I have a personal rule that if something scares me, I do it.

Some day I'll cut all the youtube and shitposting and read/watch lectures instead, but for now, this is it:

10:30 Wake up, take a shower
11:10 Breakfast
11:50 Take bus to go to college
11:50-13:00 Read on the bus
13:00-19:00 College (I eat here, usually)
19:00 Take bus to go home
19:00-20:10 Read on the bus
20:10 Come home, shitpost, watch youtube videos
21:00 Dinner
22:00 More youtube videos
23:30 Start studying whatever we saw on today's class.
2:00 Start studying for tomorrow's class
4:00 Go to sleep

This is more or less it, usually I will fuck up and not study enough or go to sleep later. I also doesn't help that some days classes are at 12:00 or sometimes even 16:00. I don't get how you guys can be productive during the day, for me, it has always been better to study/write at night, when nobody can bother me and there are little to no distractions from the internet/family/friends.
