Hey /Lit/
What common fuck-ups gets your noggin' noggin'?

>people claiming Nietzsche was nihilist.
>people using utopia in the wrong way (Utopia = the land that cannot exist, talking about building a utopia is therefore brainlet trash)

the root of the word flammable does not exist. "flam" is not a word or concept, and "flame" is a noun, not a verb.

The proper term is "inflammable" which has the root "inflame," or "enflame." This was the term for many years, until brainlets kept getting confused by seeing the "in-" prefix and assuming it meant "non-flame-able"

The US government decided to go with flammable - which was essentially a glorified typo - on placards and official warning signs and such, leading to the word becoming ubiquitous. But I try not to use it if I can avoid it. It's a mess of a word.

Words change meaning over time, dumbass. That's like saying whenever someone uses the word bachelor in any other context than to refer to a young knight, they're using it wrongly.

>not realizing that he had an actual mental issue that prevented him from visualizing platonic forms, hence his misguided belief that most humans only think in words, which of course, without the images behind them, would have no meaning at all beyond binary oppositions
