Where do most of you fags live? I don't have any /lit/ friends and it saddens me. The people in my circles either never read books or unapologetically read young adult shit. I just want a buddy I can chat books with and maybe fuck on the side.

Edinburgh Books on West Port is my go-to as it’s just down the road for me. Picked up many a first and second edition from there. Another good one near to the campus is Southside Books, that’s just next to the Blackwells opposite the Old College. Didn’t have enough money to cover one of the books I got there once so the guy said not to worry and just bring the money back next time I was in, proper sound bloke.

It is awful. I am from San Antonio and live in San Marcos and every trip I've ever made to Dallas has just been shit.

Not that San Antonio is much better but it at the very least feels organic. I will take decay, poverty and disrepair over the sterility and blandness of Dallas any day.

San Marcos is OK. Big university city, but it's a party school and there's not much of interest which happens. No bookstores except Half Price Books, which is sad. Frankly I'd really like to move up to Austin but housing is so damn expensive there.

I know it's a bit of a hipster hotbed and is full of bullshit but I think that that atmosphere and culture has better chances of fostering or drawing intellectualism... albeit still rarely. There's also a lot of live music, some of it being pretty decent, and I really enjoy that sort of thing. That and the bike friendliness is nice, and they have some independent film festivals and things like that. There's an Improvisational music festival later this month I hope to attend.
