Luckily smaller boards like /lit/ and /out/ haven't been hit to hard by it.

Just grab a history book.
Many authors aiming for "realism" forget 'truth is stranger than fiction'. The real world is full of unbelievable events, coincidences, and odd characters. When authors remove these elements in an attempt to make their world seem real, they make their fiction duller than reality; after all, unexpected details are the heart of verisimilitude.

All truth-deduction ultimately relies on fixated concepts, what are concepts?
You could say it's an intelligible feeling or intuition, that alone is shaky, but what happens when you carry it outward or perceive it from the outside world?

Writing it down or reading about it?
How do you know that what you're reading is what is meant?
Even reading of a "tree", how do you know this is what the author thought of, precisely?

Meaning in every hypothetical scenario in which the tree of the authors mind would be present he would say "yes, a tree is present" and you too would agree, there must be divergencies right?

This fundamental insight damages all hopes for an objective and doubtless philosophy or science, everything is inherently flawed through the non-existence of fixated "meaning".

If you "look behind" your self, you realize your view never changes, and all your life experiences are all directly behind you, you are just taking up a different place in time and space.

So its not the body that moves, it's the conciousness that creates these perspectives of the self that moves.

All time in concurrent, so your concioisness must be outside of time.

I dreamt of a patio in the nighttime. The tables were all filled with people I knew, and they were being given shopping bags as party favors full of something important. An agent radioed me on those things cops have on their chest, and said someone was leaving with a bag. The patio in the night time was in the middle of a forest with dark-wooded trees, almost black, and there was a long road which ended at the patio.

(Forest trees)
==================================={Patio}
(Forest trees)

And the path was lit up like a road with dim street lights. The road was not empty. It was sprinkled with vagrants laying and sitting down on the road. The person leaving with the bag walked very far away from the patio, and I had to follow them. The "rule" was they had to place the shopping bag somewhere in the road. I am not afraid of the dark, or of vagrants, but of the time I wasted following the person, then having to turn around and return to the patio. The thought of having to do this again the moment I returned gave me a strange feeling. It was hopelessness. It was not fear; a nightmare filled with monsters or dismemberment. It was hopelessness in its purest form. It was a pointless chore, in a bleak environment, looping forever.

The day before I stayed late at a gaming cafe and there were no buses running at that time so I was left wandering around in the dark until I decided to uber back to my apartment.

Somehow it was all tied up with a story he'd heard once, about a boy born with a golden screw where his navel should have been. For twenty years he consults doctors and specialists all over the world, trying to get rid of this screw, and having no success. Finally, in Haiti, he runs into a voodoo doctor who gives him a foul-smelling potion. He drinks it, goes to sleep and has a dream. In this dream he finds himself on a street, lit by green lamps. Following the witch-man's instructions, he takes two rights and a left from his point of origin, finds a tree growing by the seventh street light, hung all over with colored balloons. On the fourth limb from the top there is a red balloon; he breaks it and inside is a screwdriver with a yellow plastic handle. With the screwdriver he removes the screw from his stomach, and as soon as this happens he wakes from the dream. It is morning. He looks down toward his navel, the screw is gone. That twenty years' curse is lifted at last. Delirious with joy, he leaps up out of bed, and his ass falls off.

However stupidity is not knowing and not caring. This is a greater problem especially when the person claims to know something that they don't. The greatest problem comes from liars who spread false information which makes people think they are not ignorant when they really are.

consciousness is a result of physical matter. Your brain is an extremely more complex organ than you believe. Animals may have been able to perceive time 500 mya. The mechanism of which remains largely unknown as researchers have been unable to carefully understand the tempo-parietal lobes without the physical use of electricity.

All metaphysical thought originates from our mental faculties as a result of: anxiety, fear, pain, desire, and other baser emotions related to our near unconscious desire to remain functioning as an organism.

Rational thought is the only way forward for our species. Myths "busted" or used for metaphor and distributed as memes. Our period of distrust is at hand. Time will march on with or without us as it has been since the origin of matter as we observe it. As we have been probing at our surroundings we will eventually learn more of the mechanism of time, matter, and quantum states. We may be able to create or otherwise emulate intelligence one day, perhaps that will lead us closer to questions of time?

I don't believe that profound is an an exquisite meme, the word itself means:

Of Emotion:Very great or intense
(which is highly subjective and not nearly a strong enough metric with which to derive discernible information.)

and Of a Person or statement: having or showing great knowledge or insight.
(which deadens us by associating ideas with the individual, and paints a narrative that skews us from realizing truth and facts).

The word for profound in latin means "before bottom," or beneath the surface. I believe that the current use of the word emphasizes exactly the opposite by being so sensationalized and cheapened by its every day use.

The result of what I posted is that existence is the only thing we can truly be sure of. I think enough people have written enough about that, that I shouldn't have to justify it.

From there, we feel a thing called pleasure. Pleasure is clearly the thing to pursue, and you can best ensure a pleasurable outcome via power.

I'd say the above is objectively true, however vague.

Nothing I've posted here or on pyramid is a new idea. I'd enjoy some feedback to get me motivated to keep going. The goal is to make the main arguments correct and bulletproof - whether that requires going further into detail or even changing the idea, it doesn't matter.

The only thing I'm at risk of falling prey to is a lack of following through.

But yeah, if you wanted to give direct critiques it would probably be mutually beneficial to our respective ways of thinking.

>Pleasure is clearly the thing to pursue

From the perspective of one such as myself, that our cultural-evolutionary benefits need be our top priority. We must accept all truths, and there is no clear evidence that pleasure is the most pivotal to our cultural-evolutionary benefit. Whatever has the most significant impact need be most invested in so that the human race will continue to move forward. We may one day understand our universe in ways we couldn't comprehend now, but at this time, we still lack the numbers of forward thinking, educated individuals who can focus on core science in order to drive concrete changes.

Humanity may have to implement it's own j-curve in order to survive on this planet unless exoplanetary terraformation is achieved soon. Will the moralists allow the culling of humankind in order to elevate themselves as a species? I do not believe that current sociopolitically minded people and globalists will see this as favorable, and I worry that without a more primal look at the natural state of humans will not allow us to outrun space death, or the end of information that has been hypothesized by string theorists.

I disagree, our sizable vocabularies would allow us to decide between various/numerous subtle nuances of words to use in a given circumstance, but we have yet to understand that context>content in a mainly content filled world. Think on this: in ancient Egypt the literacy rate was reserved for the top 1% of intellectuals in a society. This was a geographically limited, yet robust period, of insurmountable intellectual growth. Physicians and mathematicians existed primarily here. New theories were born. Western societies have found themselves once again to be graced with a generation which knows little strife comparatively speaking, and this has led to a sort of soft renaissance. We have, as a species, grown into a new sort of population. Evolving every so slightly in the past 200 years to appreciate idealism and fitness of mind.

>Egypt had 1%
>currently worldwide 86%

Imagine I'm saying this in a vacuum: We experience only from our own experience. This experience is inherently the only one that matters to us. Everything else only matters insofar as it affects our experience.

Removing all emotion etc, this is a logical truth.

And in our experience, pleasure is clearly thing thing to pursue. Power is the way to achieve it.

The best way to get full power over someone is for them to give it willingly. The only way to get a person to give you all of his power willingly is if following your will was fulfilling to that person.

So in the end, it looks pretty altruistic and would benefit society

/vacuum

I'm pretty sure notions of global warming are overblown, but I agree that this is a very imperfect society
Not surprising when you consider the majority of the population are actually "wage-slaves". They work jobs they hate, they don't affect change in that job and are unfulfilled and underutilized.
When not working, they go for cheap entertainment. It's like a way to cope.

I feel like our entire society revolves around cheap entertainment. Nothing (nonfiction) on tv or in the mainstream in general goes in depth. Not news or documentaries. Definitely not politics.

We get fucked with taxes, insurance, healthcare, the legal system.

Look at the DMV. You pay them every year a percentage of your car's value to drive it on the road. Do you not want to drive it for a year? You still have to pay for that. I think it's like $60.

Meanwhile look at the DMV experience itself. It's shit. All of the processing could be done online. They could trim a majority of their staff (staff that we have to pay for) and improve the experience (the experience we're paying for).

I think it's hard to worry about society though. It's like shouting at a massive wall.

That's why I like the idea of a mutually beneficial "secret society"

Thinking about oneself is folly. Our experience means nothing if it does not add to the associating of information throughout time. We should strive to make inroads wherever possible, as single celled organisms colonized into cells and then organisms: we must also strive to change from individuals to a greater whole. Understanding and maintaining the civilization of the human era will be attained barring any significant setbacks. When this occurs, we will be free to calculate, over distances of light years, how many number of the specie human exist. When barriers are eliminated the prosperity and total intellectual growth encourages the expansion of the shared human database of knowledge. This database is crucial in our quest to discover how to manipulate matter. Eventually we may even discover how to manipulate time space in order to simulate whole universes.

>Thinking about oneself is folly
I don't know how you can say that without being able to back it up. It's inherent as existence in a single perspective that, that perspective is all that matters to itself.

Anything outside of our experience doesn't affect us. Once we're dead nothing will affect us. Again, because we experience only from ourselves: our experience is all that inherently matters to us.

I don't think there's any disproving that, man. No matter how cold it seems.

Truth within a false context is still net false. I'm more focused on truth than subscribing to anything just because it sounds nice. I'd rather align my tastes with truth.

We never logically decided what we find to be pleasurable, what we define to be good etc. We come to these emotions unconsciously. If we are consciousness then unconsciousness is 'un-us'. These things aren't valid unless they're consciously and logically decided from first principles upwards.

Existence is *the* first principle. The direct result of that is clear.

If you exist as a singular entity, you die as a singular entity. History is Lamarckian evolution writ large. Pleasure is merely that which our primitive mind judges to be best for our physical body.

Borrowing a term from neural networking, you could call this "fitness." A simple calculation of how well we are doing at a given task. The difficulty for human beings is generally that we have an incredible drive for self preservation. Self preservation, and limited preservation of others is deceiving us into believing in flimsy tribal beliefs such as race/religion etc. It can be incredibly difficult to change the measure of fitness on any significant scale.

Meta cognition allows us theory of mind. The ability to postulate what others are thinking, or how they feel emotionally. It isn't "I think, therefore I am," it's "I think, therefore we are." Relying on the capability of others may seem pointless, but perhaps one day we may be able to more directly peer into the intentions and insights of others. Just because our perception and others is not the same does not mean that we should cease to see more complex information. Each of us is made of different genes, which ought to be preserved for the benefit of our informational being as a species in existence. Thinking outside oneself is essential to the progression of the species through time. Our perspective should shift onto those things which are of greatest threat: the unknown, physical cosmic forces beyond our control, and any possibility that the universe as we know it should cease to exist.

In conclusion:
Coming together in thought is furthering our shared knowledge base. Perception which exists separately from others should not constrict our lens of time and space only to the self. Self preservation becomes species preservation, it is the next logical step toward tying together our memes to our genes and evolving further.

Memes, or ideas, are the currency of our next step in evolution. Sequences of patterns of firing within the human brain.

From William James:
"This community of self is what the time-gap cannot break in twain."
