When is it bad prose and when is it author style

What is objectively bad prose

Can I defend myself with author style or is that only for authors with many published works.
Am I purple?

read more, work on it, try to understand you are writing for other people. Its a lie that you're writing for yourself or to express yourself, you're writing to reach the global consciousness, if its ugly, just as if you were ugly, no one has any reason to approach it. It could contain unimaginable wisdom, but if its nestled within a repulsive exterior there is little if any impetus for people to try understanding you. Killing yourself is cowardly in every sense, joking about it even more so than doing it. Stop using anime images of little girls to communicate emotions. Learn to describe your feelings in words, or get an actual aesthetic sense and search for meaningful imagery that can convey it. What you put in pic related in the OP is vulgar, infantile and not worth anyone's time. If you have an example of your prose, then post it here, with an interesting image. Following internet subcultural trends to try to relate with people instead of being relatable is a sign of spiritual, intellectual, and emotional weakness. You don't want to remain feeble for your whole life, do you anon?

If your prose sucks that means that it's underdeveloped - it won't necessarily be bad forever. One strategy to improve is to find a writer whose prose you like and want to imitate. After some time you'll be able to move from imitation to proper development of your own style.

Unfortunately, if you hate reading you're never going to succeed as a writer unless you're either a genius or someone with a message so overwhelmingly compelling that people will be willing to overlook your bad prose.

If a picture book is literature why cant manga be literature

>> No.10419362

>>10419327
Because the pictures in a picture book are generally meant to be supplement to the story, not replacing the text as the main story telling device. As such, the text can be considered literature and thus the work itself can be literature. I have never heard of any picture books reached literature status though, even more so among the well-read crowd.

Get off this board already. You constantly hijack threads by asking others to prove why anime isn't literature all while never presenting any contention of your own. Posing questions like "why is it not actual literature" and blankly stating that "I say it is literature" is not debate.

>> No.10419384

>>10419327
A picture book ISN'T literature. Literature is, by definition, writing. (Or so I've been told.)

A picture is worth a thousand words. That's a thousand words translated in an instant. No need for the imagination to actually work on anything, no need for you to mull over descriptive terms, or form your own view of the author's vision. Because it's right there. There's nothing wrong with it, but you have to understand that manga and books lacking pictures are two separate art mediums.
