I've been reading philosophy intro books, and things seem to 'click' when I'm reading, but later on my memory is hazy and my understanding is vague and disorganized. Why does this happen? Should I take notes while reading? I just want to absorb information better.

for me it depends on the author. i am a brainlet so i prefer long winded detailed tomes. its those that i tend to remember most. maybe switch up authors. stuff like sanderson or stevenson perhaps.

Write little essays about the things you want to remember.
Try to have conversations about it with knowledgeable individuals. Even ask here, someone will have it least a limited understanding of the subject.
