first you should read Alain de Botton's "How Proust can change your life". It's acclaimed academic work. And first of all, a comfy reading.

I'm 2 volumes in. I took a years break between the 2 volumes. It does drag in places, but equally it's some of the most beautiful and engaging text you'll ever read.

In many ways it helps relive the fresh experiences of childhood and adolesence, as well as having some of the most earnest, insightful and well realised depictions of obsession, family relationships and human interaction with art I've ever read.

The one who has to learn about /lit/ culture is you. De Botton is money-grabbing and talentless. He truly is the epitome of the braindead hack. It's common knowledge. The School of Life is the lowest all of Philosophy has to offer. His book on Proust is garbage.
