The more time passes since I read Moby Dick the more incredibly fucking amazing it seems in comparison with other books.

I've never read Moby Dick (It's not very popular where I live). But this image looks fucking cool.
Should I give it a go if I mostly read sci-fi?

It's very digressive, almost half of the chapters are asides about whale anatomy, and there's not actually a whole lot of action.
On the other hand, Melville's prose is rich, beautiful, and even stunning at times. It's occasionally very funny whether intentional or not. And most of the characters are extremely interesting and feel very much alive. Haven't read it in eight years but what I remember stands out to me as something special.

Probably not, since great whites are tiny compared to sperm whales. That said though, a Moby Dick set in an alternate universe where Megalodons never went extinct would be cool.

>> No.8424969

Whales are more metal than sharks by far.
Maybe a Megalodon shark would do, though. Maybe.

But megalodons weren't mentioned in the bible, Greek literature or Roman literature. They don't have the history and mystery that whales have.
I also bet they font have much oil in them so there wouldn't be much reason to hunt them.
