What are some books that I can read and kind of pretend are from the Fallout universe? Or at least some books that the series has drawn from. The lack of any official Fallout novels is frustrating to me and I'm craving some good post-nuclear fiction to fill the void.

So far I've got:
>A Boy And His Dog
>The Postman
>Metro 2033
>I Am Legend
>The Road
>A Canticle For Leibowitz
Am I missing anything significant?

Oryx and Crake (sort of)

Philip K. Dick's Deus Irae felt very Fallout to me.

Post apocalypse, fairly rebuilt society in the countryside, ruins in the old city, deals with various post war religions and factions, and the main character is a cripple wandering the waste on a religious quest to paint the man responsible for the nuclear holocaust.
Along the way he encounters various wasteland parables that feel right out of Fallout side-quests and share some of the same wacky humor. examples being bug-men and a big AI computer and a priest-like guy looking to find god in the use of psychedelics

The book's also just really good. Philip K. Dick doing some interesting contemplation on art, truth, theology, and god in very engaging ways

the title "deus irae" is latin for god of wrath. one of the book's larger ideas is that the man responsible for the nuclear holocaust has effectively become a god of wrath. nuclear hellfire is nothing short of divine destruction is it not? transcendent technologies of destruction.

anyways

Just Wikipedia'd it and sounds pretty Fallout to me. Strange that I've literally never heard of it or the author before.

>>7548548
Jesus christ that sounds awesome. I know there's already multiple Philip K Dick references in the series (I.e: Fallout 4, Fallout 4 and Fallout Fucking 4). Sounds like the winner.

Wool (YA)
The Last Policeman
Station Eleven (50% of story is post-apoc, but it's not really about that)
The Penultimate Truth (another PKD, not as good as PKD's usual fare), other PKDs: Dr. Bloodmoney
Ballard's works: The Drowned World, The Burning World, The Wind From Nowhere
Lucifer's Hammer
On The Beach (a classic of the genre, loved it)
Day Of The Triffids
The Stand
The Tripods (YA)
Earth Abides (another classic)
The Chrysalids
Wolfe's Shadow Of The Torturer and all follow-ups are post-apocalyptic, too
Children Of Men (movie is more famous)
