Everyone but a stand in for me disappears from the world, but everything goes on exactly the same including getting messages from friends and family on his phone and computer. He still sees cars in the distance and hears the voices of neighbors, and all signs point toward him just being totally shut out of but supported by society. He lives a life composed totally of leisure time and pursues varying courses of self improvement through mental and physical means. His perception of the world becomes more and more warped as his interaction with people is entirely through posts on the internet, and towards the climax he cuts himself off totally and tries to live a totally self-sufficient life. This fails and he returns home.

I don't know what his final action should be though, and maybe it should just end with him sitting at home ignored but taken care of.

It's a quasi-stream-of-consciousness encyclopaedic text with no overarching plot or higher meaning of any sort. There are a number of different , ranging from completely banal accounts of banal people doing banal shit to pastiches of various styles and genres, earnest autobiographical passages, outright plagiarism, inchoate rants, short theatrical pieces, fictitious encyclopaedia articles, speculative journalism ungrammatical internet comments etc.

My intent is not literary, but overtly anti-literary. Chief influences: wikipedia, weed, old YA novels from my local library

It was a mindset I had, but I've immersed myself in working toward my goals. I want to end it with the protagonist deciding that he needs to reenter society despite being shut out and stop focusing on changing himself. I want to present it as being more of a struggle created entirely by the protagonist who had some belief about being above interacting with a society he sees as being flawed, and according to him beyond fixing.

Finn pulled the Remington slowly from the cloak of his trenchcoat.

Even pressed against his body for the last half-hour, the metal was cold and heavy in his hands. Pregnant with destruction. He could tear apart the structure of anything before him with the simple contraction of musculature in one finger. A pulse of intention, a command that flowed down from his motor cortex, through the spine and out into the periphery. Intention could become reality in less than a second. All he had to do was will it to be so.

"Something something, quirky and whimsical," said Jake. He couldn't listen to his lies anymore. Ever since donning the Glasses of Nerdicon in Season 2, Episode 15, life had become a shade of what it once was. He had seen everything, and it meant nothing. A senseless spark that emerged from darkness and would return just as quickly as it had arrived. All was for naught.

Jake had walked ahead, a few feet up a merry path made of chocolate and ice-cream. But he had stopped abruptly, in a strange, menacing way.

"I've been able to hear your thoughts Finn. I always have. I've known everything. These last few months have rested heavy on your shoulders. Nihilism has rotted your soul inside-out. But you are a fool."

"How?" Finn asked the question despite feeling suffocated by a mental miasma of shock and hope.

Jake's lips curled slowly into a smile, and then widely into a toothy grin. "The Munchausen Trilemma, you big dummy!"

"...Also, you'd never be able to kill me with that shotgun, I'm magic, innit."

The murderer is the diabetic old lady who supplies the apothecary with herbs. It turns out she's been conspiring with demons so she can murder the god bound up in the old hemlock tree out in the cemetery because she wants power.

My novel is centered around a college teacher and a college student who struggle with the real fact that everyone (including them) lives in their own little world and just makes shit up about what happens to them irrespective of what objective reality is. As an example, the teacher is a lesbian and her partner gets pregnant and believes 100% that it is the teacher's child (which is hard for the teacher to believe). The student gets involved in a student anarchist organization opposing the for-profit corporation that is slowly absorbing the college and distorting the education to serve their own means, but struggles with the need to use violence to effect change.

It's all written in a subdued magical realism style (e.g. the teacher really is the "father")

Need some advice, lit.

I'm writing a novel as part of my independent study, and met with my advisor last week. I'm male and she's female.

We discussed my ideas for the novels structure - it would take place from the perspectives of four different men at different stages of their lives. I wanted to eliminate as many differences as possible so that I could concentrate on the one distinguishing factor: their families and how they change them.

My professor advises using at least one female character, but that sort of fucks with the above state idea. Then again, I might just be a stupid shitlord.

So, outside opinions: do I stand my ground or take her advice?

Thanks in advance, everyone.

I'm writing about Mary finding out that her pious husband Joseph is impotent and she has an affair with Zechariah (John the Baptist's rabbi father) that results in the pregnancy of Jesus. She makes up the "revelation" dream and Joseph believes her because she is so virtuous and he is so pious.

When Jesus is born they tell him that he was born of a virgin but the boy spends a great deal of time with John the Baptist and Zachariah in the Temple. (Thus the story of kid Jesus being in the Temple and talking about his "Father's house" he is really speaking about how Zachariah was essentially the man who raised him and Mary hushes up any chance of rumor about her adultery by bringing up the "God did it" thing again).

Jesus spends that whole "lost period" dealing with his status as a potential demigod or blessed being since he believes he was born of a virgin. By the end of it he decides that he is probably the Son of God and goes out preaching.

Mary is terrified about this because her simple lie is now spiraling out of control but she cannot say anything for risk of both ruining her family's reputation and weakening the already shaky structure of the Temple by showing a rabbi to be an adulterer.

When Jesus is accused the Rabbis, of whom his real father is one, are the ones to condemn him. When he is on the Cross he expects to be raised up to Heaven before death but can't understand why God doesn't do so ("Father, why have you forsaken me?"). He finally despairs and realises that he is just a man after all.

"It is finished."
