I stopped reading Redwall after I finished "Mattimeo". I liked it generally, but I felt like I got the gist. The first three books have essentially the same structure. Bad thing happens -> need to get thing to fix bad thing -> need to solve a riddle to get thing -> get thing -> fix bad thing

OK faggot, I was trying to be nice but you are clearly a fucking mongoloid if you think the Bible is a 'poorly written mess'. It's a collection of books fucktard, not a single book. Also, the wisdom books and the Gospels are seriously some of the most profound works of literature to have ever been written. This isn't religious dogma, it's literary fact. I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority. In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your asshole. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, eat it. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite.

It's a mindless read. Something to read to escape reality. Though most fantasy is exactly that: escapism.
Calling it literature is as much an insult to the literary world as calling video games art. It's mediocre writing, with long incoherent rambling just for the sake of selling words. It feels like he's grasping for some way to pull it together, but the rope has split too much and it's all falling apart. He calls himself a gardener, not an architect when it comes to writing. Meaning he has no end plan, he makes it up as he goes along and tries fixing it one sentence at the time.

A truely great writer will start with a general idea, then build a story to express said idea. You need a running theme for a book to be truely great. GRRM never tries to teach or tell you anything, he's just gently stroking your hair while he injects you with heroin.

The HBO show has really shown just how silly the books actually are.

They've left huge amounts of backstory completely unaccounted for and the story hasn't suffered at all. The seasonal structure,10 hour time limit and budget constraints they can't get away with rambling mindlessly and going off on stupid tangents, they need to hit some sort of climax on a regular basis. The massive cast is easily and painlessly reduced with characters being condensed and composited with what remains being much more palatable when the characters have faces to identify them with. And because the showrunners have access to the GRRM's plans they are free to write the back half of the story without taking the little detours that turn into four extra 1000 page books that don't really add anything. The show's last seasons will be tight, logical and benefit greatly from non-linear writing.

Basically, the show treats the books like a shitty first draft and tells the story the way it's meant to be told.

This is true to a comical extent. I'm usually against "improving on the author's work", but don't have the slightest disappointment over losing 75% of Feast and Dance. If we can replace those stories with equally logical plots that actually entail character development, all the more power to the show writers.

Give me your best theory as to Littlefinger's long game. If it involve's Sansa, why was he so keen on Ned towing the line and swearing loyalty to Joffrey? If Ned did that, then Littlefinger wouldn't have been able to betray Ned, and Sansa wouldn't have been taken by the Lannisters, and wouldn't go through the convoluted process whereby Littlefinger ends up with her in his charge.

He knows he can't be king, he's already filthy rich so it's not that, he doesn't want to build Baelish great house (he could if he tried), if he wanted to influence kings he would have stayed in KL, if he wanted Sansa as his waifu he would have just married her. Hard one to figure out.

Maybe he wants sansa to be the queen because he loved her mom.

*Elessari - Elessar
*Furnost - Fornost

*Eragon- Aragorn

And let's not forget about the suffocatingly thick purple prose!

>The branch Roran had added to the fire burst asunder with a muted pop as the coals underneath heated the gnarled length of wood to the point where a small cache of water or sap that had somehow evaded the rays of the sun for untold decades exploded into steam.
