Ok, enough is enough!

The shitposting of DFW is bad enough. But someone had the bad taste to post Laurie Penny after half a year of peace: >>6433336

>ehurf ehdurf the body politic the aborted discourse the brits thinks that everyone else is brits ehurf my future

And then there was this master trole who had to post a Rand thread: >>6431795

Yes, it was intended to savage her. But a Rand thread is one too many.

So face it, there is only one Autarch of /lit/ and it's Severian.

>> No.6433563

Gene Wolfe fanboys are somehow even more annoying than DFW fanboys. And I like both of those authors.

Gene Wolfe looks like most old men and we don't spam /lit/ with pics of him.

Severian is not a maymay. As a matter of fact /lit/ is a fewer swamp of no fun allowed that believes in the "genre" spook.

You do ruin every thread about fantasy or contemporary literature in general, though.

Implying that anything under that label excepting Wolfe, Tolkien, and maybe Peake, isn't utter trash, and an unworthy presence upon the literature board

He looks like a stereotypical old creepy neckbeard like George RR Martin.

There certainly does exist better "literary fantasy" than Wolfe.

GRRM doesn't look like a neckbeard. He is everyones favourite uncle. Fuck, nigger! Don't you know that the legbutts at /lgbt/ constantly fawns over him? The fags. The dykes. The shemales.

I'd love to read some, could you provide any examples?

You can read fantasy if you like, just don't smear it where it doesn't belong. There are better places than here for its discussion

Genres are spooks but spooks are useful ways of summing up qualities sometimes

>> No.6434494

>>6434466
The term spook is too over arching and looses meaning. Genres are constructions that share a series of characteristics that let the audience know what they're gonna get. It's just reading something that follows rules, it's not good or bad.
Again, a lot of people in here like certain genres. Insisting that some boogyeman hates anything that has a tradition only makes that people more comfortable about being idiotic out loud.

>>6434494
When I say fantasy, what I mean is the sort of books that are generally talked about on here under the fantasy heading, books by Rothfuss, Sanderson, Martin, Erickson. Obviously I don't hate all fantasy, having mentioned already some exceptions to the general rule; I think it's a premise with a lot of potential, but it's a potential that's almost always squandered with mediocrity, and I don't think such squandering should be encouraged here.

Isn't the thing you criticicise fantasy for the same thing you could criticise any movement of? I'm sure tons of realism is shit, it's just that it has been forgotten in time, as all shit has been.
But the thing that makes you mad is probably the fact that fantasy is atm the male equivalent of 50 shades.

>> No.6434550

>>6434534
Yes, I'm opposed to the discussion of anything that could come under a single-genre description on here really Literature is just fiction that's outlasted all of its peers, and thus has at least some value, to have survived hundreds of years of fresh readers and remained relevant to them. And it doesn't make me particularly annoyed, it just seems like such threads would be more at home in reddit threads.
