What's so special about Earwa?

I mean obviously the Inchoroi found the truth in existence of objective morality and the reduction of a planet's souls to 144000 grants them disconnection from eternal damnation. But how did they fuck up so badly and kill off their entire species except for 2 of them?

If they've decimated multiple planets for hundreds of thousands of years, why'd they get stuck on Earwa?

The ship crashed. That's the big problem. It impacted the surface hard enough to melt the crust of a large area, and 90+ % of them died on impact.

Sorcery was kind of a curveball too. I don't think they'd ever seen that before.
