Any good novels with a university as the primary setting? I'm looking for some relatable literature, so please don't troll with shitty escapist romance novels.

All Souls, by Javier Marias is excellent. In fact, anything by Javier Marias is excellent, as a rule.

The Secret History by Donna Tartt.

I read it a while ago so don't remember details but do remember that it was really good.

Brideshead Revisited is of course fantastic. Starter for 10 is slightly lower brow (set in Bristol in 1985) but quite funny for what it is

Zuleika Dobson is a fantastically funny read, although I'm not sure it's exactly what you're after

I'm reading White Noise by DeLillo right now. It's great, but it's from the perspective of a professor instead of a student, if that matters. Really funny though.

Harry Potter, if you count Hogwarts as a University

I like the 4th book the best, it's the deepest and has a lot of smart themes running through it. The 6th is very good as well.

Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger.

It takes during and around the Yale games but not at them, and not at any university.

However, I think what you are looking for is in there.

Came here to recommend this as well.

>Dixon was alive again. Consciousness was upon him before he could get out of the way; not for him the slow, gracious wandering from the halls of sleep, but a summary, forcible ejection. He lay sprawled, too wicked to move, spewed up like a broken spider-crab on the tarry shingle of the morning. The light did him harm, but not as much as looking at things did; he resolved, having done it once, never to move his eyeballs again. A dusty thudding in his head made the scene before him beat like a pulse. His mouth has been used as a latrine by some small creature of the night, and then as its mausoleum. During the night, too, he’d somehow been on a cross-country run and then been expertly beaten up by a secret police. He felt bad.

On a related note, would there be a "The Graduate" - like universitycore book out there? In tone, not in "bang my crush's mom" relatedness.
