Reading Tolkien makes me cry, bros. Even some of the descriptions of landscapes make me tear up. I don't know what it is.

I remember crying the hardest I have in years when reading Return of the king, specifically the part where Frodo says "I'm glad you're here with, here at the end of all things" to Sam as they're about to die on the slopes of Mt Doom. How does Tolkien do it?
