You can't say you've read something if:
>You "read" it off a screen ,(e-readers included)
>You listened to any part of it as an audiobook
>You read/listened to a summarisation from wikipedia or blinkist or chatgpt even if you actually read the actual text beforehand
>It's the only work by the author or on the topic or in the genre you've read so far
>You didn't read in the original language or consult AT LEAST 3 translations
>You stopped reading the book for more than 72 hours and didn't restart from the beginning when you resumed
>You took more than 2 weeks to finish
>You cannot recall the chapter titles and recall which events/ideas occur in which chapters
>Your book isn't peppered with extensive marginal notes
>You read it lying down
>You read it after 9pm or before 7am
>You read it while standing or walking
>You read it while eating
>You read it in a cafe, beach, etc
>Music was playing in the background whilst you read it
>You have't read the lit sticky
>You aren't acquainted with trivium and Mortimer adler
