Neil Gaiman is a complete hack. Almost all of his his novels doesn't have a proper ending. Its almost always narrative arcs are just dropped and forgotten. Look at America gods, its ending is essentially just an offscreen time skip because he has written himself into a corner and didn't know what to do with his story. Stardust is even worse, it basically just drops all character storylines and just forgets to resolve any of them, movie did far better job writing a narrative consistent ending than Gaiman did.

I like Neil Gaiman. His stories are fun to read and that's what makes them good.
Neverwhere and Good Omens are in my top five as far as fiction.

The fact that American God isn’t there in your list is a shame. It’s far better than Good Omens

i loved this movie as a kid, felt bit gothic, bit arthousey like burton film or something

I haven't read it yet, but I don't really think it's a competition between them. If I like American Gods I like it, but I'll still like Good Omens too.

That's exactly why I stopped reading Sandman. There was literally deus ex machina, i.e. God intervened and solved everything in like two pages. Previously Sandman himself did similar, e.g. when he visited that serial killer symposium and just disinterested the main bad guy.
The best part of Sandman were the one-shots.

>being such a plotfag Gaiman filters you
Wrapping things up nice and neat is not exactly difficult. You should put a little effort into considering he did it the way he did for a reason beyond incompetence.

Yeah I loved that movie too, Claire Danes who played the star was literally my first movie crush. But still, even the movie had a better ending than the book. My point is that stardust novel just didnt had an ending, Gaiman killed off several characters made it a sad ending and called it a day

I've seen Stardust several times and each time it feels like I'm watching someone play a video game
>new interesting character met
>new place to go to

I think its like that on purpose, its like king of elflands daughter but with more lineral story. Also its quite basic overall, typical Campbell's heroes journey. He is called to adventure, tempted by a false lover, minor setback, magical help and so on

Dream isn't the main character of every story arc.

He did a comic called Marvel 1612. Which I liked. Not a phenomenal work of literature, but good.
