Get brave (the browser) it's pretty much the same as Chrome, but with added benefits like script blocking by default, and more importantly in your case, a Tor browser.
Open the tor navigatior like you would open private navigation on Chrome (if you can't figure this out just Google "how to open tor brave")
Duck duck go should be the default search engine. In the search box type zlibrary, and as a result on the right you should get a super long link unlike the ones you usually see on the web. (They all end in .onion)
Click on that.

I'm done for. Homeland security kicked down my door and raped my cat. Confiscated all my electronic devices and arrested me in front of the neighbors. Wearing nothing but boxers and socks, they took me in handcuffs to their car. As they forcefully tried to lower my head lest I hit my self on my way in, I take single glance at where I had just shortly forbidden my own gaze - at all the families of the neighborhood that have gathered around to inquire about the commotion. I lock eyes with a few individuals, then look no more for it is enough for me to conclude that they must all have been looking at me with disgust ever since I walked down that hall of infamy, with my beer-belly swinging from left to right, swish-swoosh. I gaze down upon my feet in the car and whisper under my breath: "It's over".

They don't even have jurisdiction here.

You always had to do that for certain features, the reason you have to do it to download now is because the Tor userbase is read as all the same user I think, so if anyone on Tor downloads five books nobody else can for the day.
You can actually download 20 books a day with an account, assuming at least 10 of them are 50MB or below, and you get those through the Telegram bot.

Imagine if they were were real pirates though.

They'd pull alongside a container ship and ascend over ropes in the dead of night, scruffy bearded men breaking open sealed metal crates by moonlight, letting out a hearty cheer when they discovered a trove of penguin classics and hauling the boxes back to their ship, setting sail for some skeevy middle eastern port where they could unload their misbegotten wares to a one-eyed man under a dirty canopy in a quiet alley.

Too bad they have to make do siphoning digital copies of werewolf fanfic from twitter roasties with memoji avatars.

George Orwell once laid out a perfect argument for piracy (not that he was intending it that way). A person writes for a few basic reasons, one being to express themselves, that is to make a work of art that they pour themselves into for others to appreciate, another is to increase their profile and fame or to leave a legacy behind them, and the last is by far the worst and least admirable, the desire to make money. Therefore, piracy fulfills the highest reasons for writing was downplaying the worst reason.

Pre apple-music and Spotify when people on /mu/ had massive share threads and torrenting, or even Limewire/Kazaa were popular, record stores were everywhere. Now you can listen to near unlimited music for the price of a coffee per week, physical media like CD’s (at like $10-20/album) is a bad deal compared to unlimited streaming.

Likewise, Piracy did not kill used book stores. Amazon same day delivery killed used book stores. Kindle Unlimited killed used book stores. The vast vast majority of readers only buy new books in the top 50 for the year, and mostly buy YA.
