>> No.20638045

conservatives don't read, they consume artificially created images of pasts that never existed. modern conservatism is really an outright anti-intellectual movement, it seeks to destroy and discredit the elements of society that promote critical thinking

Yeah they lost and no one cares anymore except people looking to intellectualize the case for non-fascist "right-wing" politics, which trails whatever the "left-wing" politics is doing and has consistently lost to it in the long run, in a kind of Hegelian-esque way wherein the conservatives fight to defend what was progressive years earlier against what is progressive in the present. It's just tapping the breaks and has no real independence. The German Conservatives, what, wanted to bring back the Kaiser? Having the Prussians become rulers of all Germany ex-Austria was quite the liberal development in the 1860s, now wasn't it? Surely there had been conservatives then opposed to that, who wanted to preserve the post-HRE arrangement of the German states. And before that, surely there were conservatives who wanted the Habsburgs to retain the title of Emperor and nominally "rule" the three hundred plus principalities. And so on. Where does it stop? Or is it just an attempt to acquire democratically sanctioned power by appealing to "old thing good new thing bad" instead of "new thing better than old thing"?

You've probably never even heard about Konservative Revolution and it shows. What a fucking pleb.

>>20638000
If you've not read all of Jünger, do it, there's nothing of his that isn't worth reading, especially Eumeswill, which often gets ignored and is imo the best criticism of democracy ever written. Otherwise, the canon is actually right: Spengler and Schmitt are the two other best.

Haven't seen the reading list around here. Eumewsil is my favorite but it's one of the least straightforward 'novel's I've ever read.
The Forest Passage is probably his most important politically.
If you've enjoyed Storms of Steel his war diaries (including Radiations) are also amazing.

Legitimate concerns around social and political changes are funneled into a release valve of nervous tics and repetitions. It's turned into schizophrenia in order to provide a reinforcing feedback for those who support the changes... after all, if one's opposition appears to be mentally-ill, they're hardly legitimate

It’s a contradiction in terms.
Conservatives aren’t revolutionary, they’re reactionary. They want a mythical past to come back and stay put. They don’t understand the transitory nature of things and so rect poorly to the changing world. Rational thinking conservatives want merely to slow down the changes and consider them. It makes sense to be conservative on the whole tranny campaign, but it would also make sense to be more environmentally conscious and to not want to rush into wars. But so-called conservatives are usually just liberals, market fundamentalist liberals. Nothing revolutionary about a bunch profiteering assholes
