Masquerade can be a verb or a noun. As a verb it should have been "we will not masquerade", as a noun, "we will not be the masquerade". She had two chances and she fucked it up both times. This is primary school level grammar, the most basic of you can get when using language. Incidentally, not to out too fine a point on it, the noun usage would have at least had the same amount of syllables as the first line, though I suspect Miss Gorman has never heard, or much less read, anything with metre in it.
