A character is introduced and you find it interesting for whatever reason; at some point there is a chapter from the perspective of that character and you get to know how he thinks, you no longer find him interesting because he wasn't what you expected.

All this past decade and a half, Tsuruya was a cool and interesting and mysterious rich girl who might be a mafia boss's kid or something, and she was basically Haruhi but a decent person.
But then Intuition came out a year ago which gave us more insight on her character and some POV stories from her, and it turns out she's just some spoiled rich kid with not much else going on for her or anything.

well, Harry Dresden pisses me the fuck off. I didn't know much about Urban Fantasy, so I grabbed the most obvious one. I think it was the only series I ever hate read. Either Butcher is a genius, and managed to create a character that mentally stagnated due to trauma at 16, or Butcher himself mentally stagnated at 16, because holy SHIT is Dresden annoying.
