19753330 No.19753330 [Reply] [Original]

Where do I start with this new star?

I have read tons of philosohpy books but not that many poems, but I have read poems before.

I am willing to take my time when I read this guy.

i'm too drunk to tell if this is some retarded bait but if not, you could answer your own damn question by opening the amazon preview of his novels and realizing he's on the level of chuck palahniuk

This crusty goblin has been putting out books since the 90s, hardly new.
Start with Whatever, then Atomized, then Submission, then Serotonin and lastly Anéantir.

kinda bad thing, in the sense that chuck palahniuk writes midwit edglorderly that aged like dogshit since 2005 and comes off as corny nowadays imo but who knows, maybe in 2050 houellebecq will seem the same. that's not to say palahniuk is completely terrible, he's just like the band korn.

>most anti-stablishment
they are dry humour parody and satire of the emptiness of modern life. I have read everything available in english when it came out, in that order.
His novels contain Baudrillard-style critiques of consoomerism, tourism, decor, and art (he is a photographer too).
I've never understood why nobody talks about how funny his books are.

The vibe I have picked up from euro press is first half of book political satire, second half a "moving" lamentation on human condition. More or less.
