Wow, I had no idea, I'll take it down right away. Do you think I should scrap all the wood too?

How Can I improve upon the design? Should I use some simpson strongties in the corners? Would better fasteners improve the resistance against shear?

Should I use 8/4 material instead of 5/4 material for the next build? Do you think I should go with White oak over Walnut to increase the compression, tension, and shear strength? What about static bending? How do I resist those forces?

Please point to the wood on the chart that would best help me.

How do I prevent catastrophic failure? Can I use more fasteners or predrill at a rate greater or less than 80% to achieve more rigidity?

Thank you so much, in advance, for the help and insight.

They were like, GOD YOU HAVE SO MUCH MONEY when they came to see my 65 square meter place. When I went to visit their place, in the different cities I visited, they invariably had either Ikea furniture and nothing, or old lead painted walls that looked like this.

I like those dover editions. An old timer and I were just discussing the merit of the Dover Thrift edition books. As for the Hegel, Beiser is an okay dude. I met him for a party thing when he was doing Diotoma's children. Seems like one of t he nicer intellectual historians and I really appreciate the work he did in the 1990s.

As for Discipline and Punish, it's a bit overwrought, a bit dishonest, but one of the better of the shitty Foucault Books. That opening anecdote about flaying alive is such a one off event it's hardly worh repeating as a general part of corporeal punishment, which had largely been phased out of European society by the 18th century. In fact, the abuses of the Master/Serf and the Herr im Gut was all about that sort of disciplining.

that color on the wall also suggests a Benjamin Moore, color-of-the-year circa 2016 choice. Did your parents recently renovate or repaint the home within the last five years? The popcorn ceiling suggests the home was built between the 1980s and the early 1990s. While it's good for acoustics, I'd prefer a flat white.

As for the Foucalt, I'm gonna be real I got 30 pages in and put that shit down. I like to keep busy and I didn't see myself gleaning anything too good from it, and now it's gonna collect dust. Probably going to go into more Dostoevsky next, Brothers Karamazov is my top book rn but his works are usually pretty dense and I haven't really had the time these past few months. Your room is painted horribly. I’m a painter by trade. That shade of blue is horrendous and an eyesore. The reason furniture has always had drab colors is because your environment is meant to be comfortable and blend in to your surroundings, not be a gigantic statement of electric blue.

Actually you come off as even more immature because it’s literally what they paint elementary school classrooms and playgrounds with. Don’t bother with Dostoyevsky, just stick to Captain Underpants.

I'd say it depends of a lot of factors.
From my side, it's mostly because of gifts and habits (I got plushies because one of my exes had a collection of plushies).

Japanese product consumption is heavily linked to merchandising since decades, among reasons there's the fact it's reassuring to have little things that reminds you things you love, things you had a good time consuming (gunpla, nendoroid, etc). Like icons and religion-related stuff since ages, humanity is always reassured by having materialistic representations of their beliefs or passions.

It also permits to expresses a part of your individuality. Gunplas express fans' autism for the third Reich and big robots, SW fans express the nostalgy of childhood, nendoroids made from recent productions express the comfyness to possess your generic waifu of the moment.

Anyway tl;dr
>express the need to have icons
>the need to collection
>the need of express individuality though products
>the need to possess elements reminding a past experience
If you got more examples, I'd gladly like to hear them.
