There's so many inspired lines on this album

>You need me like the wind needs the trees to blow in, like the moon needs poetry you need me
>Drag another cliché howling from the vaults
>"I love you, honey." Very funny
>Because I always say "I love you" when I mean "Turn out the light," and I always say "Let's run away" when I just mean "Stay the night"
>And if some dim bulb should say we were in love in some way, kick all his teeth in for me, and, if you feel like keeping on kicking, feel free
>The way you say good-night, I dream of all day long. Oh, I could write a song about the way you say good-night
>I know you're a recluse, you know that's no excuse, Reno, that's just a ruse. Do not play fast and loose with my heart
>Melody is like a pretty girl: who cares if it's the dumbest in the world? It's all about the way that it unfurls
>It ain't no famous name on a golden plaque that makes me ride that railroad track, it's my baby's kiss that keeps me coming back
>I see that "kiss me" pucker forming, but maybe you should plug it with a beer
>Life just kind of dances through you, from your smile down to your feet

You have hardened completely
By the end of this story,
You have learned to look clear
Through the flash of a bulb,
When you hear your own name
From the back of a crowd,
You just straighten your gaze,
No you don't turn around.
Oh but there was a time
At the end of the day,
We were both stood in line
At the museum display,
And you outshone the light
Under which you were bathed,
You could outshine the sky
With the look that you gave,
Oh so don't be afraid
To look back and wave,
Now that waving is all that you do.
At the end of the day,
By the Potsdamer Place,
I am waving back at you.

Judas Priest is a wonderful combination of intelligence, emotion, and skill. Personally, I think Rob Halford is the best singer ever because of his incredible range, longevity, and variety of styles. I chose this album to share because it is simply Priest's best, though they've had excellent albums throughout their 50 year career.

It isn't their early work borrowed elements from Bataille (they botched it though) but nu-swans is largely just Gira coping with death and being a mentally fried schizo. He never really understood Bataille, even if he desperately tried to be like him, as is evident in his "books" where he attempts to be a sort of modern ďe sade which is laughable to anyone who has actually read Bataille or Foucault or Klossowski since de sade was purely a product of his time and the shifts in episteme and discourse that defined it. Gira doing that shtick today without the academic force to actually imbue it with any real Critique or theory just comes off as embarassing LARPing and his music is no less pseudo-intellectual and pretentious. People who pretend like Swans are some sort of post-modern artistic geniuses do not understand post-modernism and read way too deeply into Gira. Not denying that the music is good btw, I like Swans' sound a lot but the lyrics aren't good or /lit/ in any way. Just go listen to shit like Jarboes solo work and try not to laugh.

>Just go listen to shit like Jarboes solo work and try not to laugh.
I don't listen to Swans for Jarboe, I listen to them for Gira.
And yeah the lyrics are mediocre but they fit the bill, which is being aggresive/occult schizobabble. If they had /lit/ lyrics the band as a whole would be worse.

>> No.19474721

>>19474674
Gira isn't occult so much as hes a LARPing nihilist who likes the aesthetic of shit like the Acephale. If you want schizo occult lyrics go listen to Tibet or some esoteric black metal. I'll give you the rage aspect, I think Giras music is a lot more about the feeling it gives than any linguistic or conceptual components it might contain.

Anything by David Berman is a great pick. Check out his blog;; the last thing he posted on it was a series of quotes by Thomas Bernhard.. He read widely, and is one of the few popular musicians I can think of that is a somewhat-respected poet in their own right. I have a copy of his poetry book, Actual Air, on my bookshelf right now.
I'm posting these crazy motherfuckers in pic related because I'm pretty sure some avant-garde poetry and theatre influenced their more ambitious tracks.
